Salem:
When I was younger, in kindergarten, my dad used to make pancakes for Carter, Samson, and me every Friday. I looked forward to these Fridays and they continued all the way until I was in grade five. Then, I had my last Friday pancake breakfast with my future boyfriend, my older brother and my parents.
That would be the last breakfast I'd ever have with them.
"Smells good," Carter hummed stepping into the kitchen and wrapping his arms around me.
I laughed, flipping the pancake then downing my second beer, "Thank you baby. This has been a while hasn't it? Sit and eat."
He sat down as I placed the plate in front of him. He dug in unaware of the hurt in my heart and that only made it grow. I felt like something was wrong with me, and I blamed that damn stranger from the Cemetery. In less than ten minutes he had made me feel an excitement I hadn't felt with Carter in so long.
Maybe never.
I think I needed to figure this out. I needed to figure out what was wrong with me and that meant I needed to go back to the cemetery. Find that stranger and figure out this excitement. Then I could be the girlfriend Carter deserved.
"What's your plan for today?" I chirped opening a fresh beer.
Carter glanced over at me, his fork stopping, "Why are you so suspicious? I'm going to work."
"I'm making conversation silly. Tell Donny I say hello," I replied rolling my eyes.
He put his fork down then pushed his plate away. I hummed a tune as I turned and placed the hot pan in the sink. It sizzled under the water for a second before it cooled enough to wash. When I turned back around, Carter was studying me closely.
"What's wrong?" I asked frowning.
He shrugged, his eyes carefully watching me, "You're acting strange."
"Am I?" I giggled, leaning across the table to press a kiss onto his nose, "Don't be silly."
He looked stunned as I took his plate then washed it too.
"Right. Well, I'll be working late tonight, don't wait up ok?" he hummed.
I nodded, waving him off, "Okay. I'm going to head to the Cemetery today anyways."
"What?" he gasped knowing how much I hated that place, "Why?"
I merely shrugged, "Turning over a new leaf I guess."
"Whatever you say Sal, whatever you say," he snapped pushing away from the table.
I frowned as he stormed off towards the bedroom. I didn't know what was shoved up his ass but I sure as hell wanted to know. So I grabbed my half full beer then headed to the couch. Sitting carefully not to be too unlady-like in the black skirt I wore.
After a while Carter wandered out and towards the door freshly showered and dressed for work. I got up when he stormed towards the door, I jumped up and grabbed his arm. He stopped turning on his heels hotly to stare down at me. Instantly, his eyes softened slightly.
"Babe, I'm going to be late to work," he said quietly.
I let him go, "Why are you so angry?"
"I still can't find my phone, don't worry about it," he chuckled running a hand through his hair.
I nodded letting the matter go just as he left. Slamming the front door shut behind him. I flinched away from the noise then sighed deeply. Clearly he had something shoved up his ass to hold in all the shit he's full of.
