Enirr:
"The porch is very clean."
I glanced over at Akjan, uninterested, "Yes, and?"
She frowned, twirling in a rather short purple dress with yellow polka-dots. My head tilted at the sight – her locks of green hair were held back by a silver butterfly pin. The pin yesterday decorating that little soul's human corpse.
"Put that back," I ordered, then returned to my work upon my laptop.
She sighed then looked down at the candies on my desk, "You don't like candy."
"And?" I asked closing my laptop realizing with her here I would get no work done.
She rolled her eyes, "You keep peach candies on your desk because you like the smell. But you hate candy so you don't eat it, yet a considerable amount is missing. The porch was cleaned and all the vases in here with fake flowers were changed with real roses. There's only one explanation – you have a girlfriend! Is it Myserien? I swear she is such a bitch."
I blinked at her slowly, "What are you prattling on about? Be quiet. You are annoying."
"You're just saying that, you old grump," she giggled.
Her giggle was not as entertaining as Salem's. The thought grasped me harshly as I felt myself grow pale. I had yet to figure out what the cause of her problem was and it had been almost a week. I had been growing fond of her presence on my land.
How disgusting.
"Hey Enirr are you even listening to me?" Akjan whined.
I sighed then looked at her. My glory flaring briefly out then retreated back inside me. Akjan's eyes widened before they narrowed and she sat on the couch. Crossing one leg over the other, she tossed the pin out of her hair.
"Alright, alright I'm being serious. What's up?" she hummed.
I nodded pleased of her change of attitude, "I have hired a human woman. Her name is Salem Rines. You will treat her kindly and with respect."
Her head cocked to the side, "And what would make the great Enirr take an interest to a human woman? Are you growing soft dear brother, maybe Lucifer will finally acknowledge how you've grown?"
"Don't be ridiculous!" I snapped.
"You know," she sighed sorrowful, "you should be more grateful to be able to love. It is a luxury I was not blessed with. Does that mean God made a mistake with me? Or was the mistake with those few that can love?"
"We all had our reasons for siding with Cronas. As the fallen angel of recording human affairs and a saint of watching, banished for the sin of envy do you regret your decision?" I inquired curiously, "Although the gates to the Almighty have been permanently sealed I am sure a saint of watching has already found a loop hole. What is your purpose for staying?"
"I was banished for the sin of envy," she purred, "I have always been clear about my views. I wished to study the humans at a closer look, I wish to learn how they love and why, then I wish to fall in love."
"And why would you want such a disgusting weakness?" I laughed.
She sighed standing up and heading for the door, "Lucifer was right, you have much to learn darling brother. If you ask nicely, I will show you all my records of all the wars won by love."
"Yes," I mocked, "then you can show me how many they've started over such an emotion. Even drawing a divide in the Almighty. We fell due to Cronas' own weakness for the emotion. You yearn for it so desperately so tell me, is such a thing worth it?"
She turned towards me, smirking slightly, "Why don't you find out for yourself?"
I refused to reply, instead reopening my laptop and focusing on the number sheet until she left. Then, I turned my gaze towards the window hanging in my office. Often, I would open the curtains only during the night. When stars and the moon where shinning brilliantly. But now, I opened it to look upon the clear midday sky and began to wonder.
Would Salem visit today?
If so, what would I say to the woman?
