A/N This is my first book, and so I ask that you be nice. I do accept constructive criticism. Please enjoy.

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!

I groaned as I reached up and turned the alarm off. I didn't want to wake up. Sleep was my safe heaven. I sat up in bed and looked at my phone. It was time to get up. I walked to my bathroom and turned on the shower. I then brushed my teeth as I waited for the water to get hot. Once I was done, I stripped and stepped into the shower. The hot water felt good as I stood under it. I quickly did my business, stepped out, wrapped a towel around myself and dried my hair. Then I walked into my room and got dressed quickly, in my ripped jeans, a black tshirt and black converse shoes. I brushed my hair, and put concealer. Once I was done I grabbed my phone and keys and backpack. I ran downstairs, quickly. I want to avoid my parents. As I get to the bottom step, I hear my mother in the kitchen talking to my brothers, Axel and Blaine. Axel is a year older than me and Blaine is five years younger than me. Axel and me are close, Blaine sees how my parents treat me and does the same. I try to quietly walk past the kitchen, but I am unsuccessful.

"About time you come down." my mother said.

"Good morning mother." I say.

"Whatever." she said and rolled her eyes at me.

I walked away heading to the front door. I hear footsteps behind me. I hope its not my parents. I turn around and see Axel behind me.

"By the way sis, Happy Birthday!" Axel said hugging me.

"Wait, its my birthday?" I asked.

"Yes, did you forget?" Axel asked.

"Yeah, I honestly did. Mom and dad don't celebrate my birthday."

"Well I do. I have a surprise for you after school. Do you want a ride?" Axel asked.

"No, I want to walk today. It's so nice out. I will see you after school." I say waving at Axel.

I walked outside and felt the sun on my face. I smiled. Today would make my eighteenth birthday. I finally can leave this hell hole. I walked until I saw my best friend Enid. She watched me walking towards her with a smile on her face.

"Hey, why are you smiling today?" Enid asked.

'Because Axel told me today is my eighteenth birthday today."

"Oh my goodness! Really? That was so nice of him." Enid says.

"Yeah, I am legally an adult, and I don't have to live in that hell hole anymore." I say.

Enid knew the gist of what was happening at home. She new there was problems, but I never went into details. Its not that I don't trust her, its just I don't want anyone outside of the house to know how bad it was. We linked arms and walked towards the entrance of the school. Thankfully no one bothered me at school. As long as I stayed out of everybody's way I was invisible. And I like it that way. The school day dragged on, I was so glad we were only a few months from graduating. I would officially be free. Once the last bell rang, I quickly packed my things in my backpack, and headed towards my locker. Once I put everything away I walked to where I always met Enid after school. I was actually excited to go home for once. Axel had a surprise for me. I couldn't wait to see what it was. Enid could see the excitement and decided to come home with me. I tried to insist that she didn't have to. But Enid is stubborn. I just hope she doesn't find out. We walked to my house laughing and smiling and talking about random stuff. We got to in front of my house and I noticed dad's car in the driveway. He isn't suppose to be home right now. Im starting to freak out a little bit, but I hide it in front of Enid. I walk in the door and I see mom and dad sitting on the couch with Axel and Blaine.

"Lola, you are back! And Enid is with you. Perfect. How are you Enid?" Axel asked.

"Hello Axel, I'm fine." Enid said shyly.

We sat opposite of my parents, who were strangely quiet.

"Okay, here." Axel said handing me a box with a note. I read the note.

Lola,

I am sorry that mom and dad are treating you like this. You are a very sweet, loving sister.

I just wanted you to know how much I love you and Im sorry for not trying harder to protect you from them. Here is something I think you will enjoy. I hope you agree.

Love forever,

Axel

I open the box. There was a key inside and another note.

I finally found an apartment. Come live with me and get away from mom and dad?

I look up at Axel with tears in my eyes. He is just smiling at me.

'Yes, Axel. Of course." I said with happy tears.

My parents had a sour look on their faces. They obviously knew.

"Okay. so Lola since today is your eighteenth birthday, I feel like you can finally know the truth." My mom said.

"The truth about what?" I ask.

"Who you really are. Haven't you ever wondered why you look different than your brothers?" mom asked.

"Yeah, But I never thought about asking." I reply.

"Well about eighteen years ago, me and James had hit a rough patch in our marriage, and I ended up seeking comfort and attention from someone else. That someone is your biological father. I went to South Korea with some friends for a mini vacation, mainly to give me some distance from James. Well I ended up meeting a man there, named Park Ji-hoo. It was a whirlwind romance. Only lasted two weeks. Not long after I came back, James and I fixed our relationship. But I then found out I was pregnant with you, I knew you weren't Jame's kid, but we went ahead and tried to fix what we could. Axel was just a year when we had you, and I wanted me and James to wok out for Axel's sake. That's why you have always been treated different. That is why we never celebrated your birthday." my mother said

I just sat there crying. How could this be? I have a different father. How? Enid and Axel both hugged me as I cried.

"Lola, just because we have different dads doesn't mean I love you any less. You have always been and will always be my sister." Axel said hugging me tight.

"Thank you Axel."
