Collin

"So any big plans for my dear nephew's seventh birthday party?" Erin my sister beamed excitedly.

"I wanted something small but Hazel wants to go all out." Erin sighed at my answer. Up till now she never liked Hazel. For whatever reasons I do not know and probably never will.

"Honey I'm home." Just then Hazel along with Cole came bursting in here like a parade.

"Dad." Cole jumped up on me considering how big he has gotten I still managed to catch him, "And auntie Erin you are here."

"Of course I am here kiddo."

"You do know my birthday is next month, is that why you are here?" Cole gave Erin a hug.

"Oh Cole honey don't bother your auntie here." Hazel who just came back from shopping now hook her arms in mine while I gently pulled back.

"Hazel you know how I feel..."

"I know but I was hoping..." She interrupted with a smile on her face.  If only I could reciprocate those feelings I would unfortunately there is nothing I feel towards her.

"No buts. I do not wish to give Cole high hopes that his parents will ever be together." I whispered with a menacing low growl.  Recently more than just becoming clingy she has also becoming needy which is starting to annoy and aggravate me.

"Oh come on Collin. It has been eight years. Don't tell me you didn't develop any feelings for me." She batted her eyes towards me.

Honestly for her sake, and mine I wish I could develop some kind of emotion towards her. After all she is the mother of my child. But the more I had tried to the more my heart wont allow me to. I even tried taking her out on a date once. Big mistake because the very next day she went around telling everyone we were now together. Sad to say I had to break it to her that there will never be an us.  I didn't want to give her high hopes.

"I know, I'm sorry, I just can't." I responded.

"So Hazel, Collin here has told me you are in charge of Cole's birthday?" Erin intervene. Thank goodness she was here.

"That is right."

"Did anyone mentioned a birthday party?"  Just than a man wearing a white lab coat cut his way in.

"Uncle Chris you're here."  Cole beamed in excitement.  "Is aunt Clarissa with you too?"

"Of course I am here.  I just got back from the lab.  And no, she is with her parents at the moment."  Chris replied.  Chris Valdez, a colleague of uncle Fredric and his very best friend along with his wife Clarissa.  Just like him, Chris here loves the waters and is also trying to discover new things.  Though uncle's field is oceanography, Chris job as a marine biologist which covers more depth and wide rage.  Though uncle has been known to go deeper into that field.  I even think Chris puts in more effort than uncle, more like he is obsesses.

"Crazy Chris what are you doing here?"  Erin teased calling him by his nick name.  He is also known as crazy Chris.  Which made me a bit skeptical when he hangs out with Cole due to the fact he swore he had seen sirens and a half human with a serpentine tail in the waters. Along with women who shape shift on land.  He had spoke of sirens sinking his ship with songs that lure sailors out to sea. Course no one believed him even though he had caught it on camera.  Unfortunately for him the angle and lighting was awful and now he is known as crazy Chris.  But he had sworn that he will prove that whatever he had seen was real.

"I wouldn't miss Cole's birthday party for anything."  He answered with a smile.

"So tell me what do you have in mind?"  Erin turned her head towards Hazel.
