Collin
"Try this." I handed Kara a sun hat as she looked at herself in the mirror. My only wish now is to see that smile on her face.
Six weeks since Cole's birthday party not once had I left Kara's side. Even Erin wanted to spend girl time with her but I had refused. In her case she had always wanted a sister and now that Kara is here she wanted to do her make up and dress her up. Not that she needed it. Kara has always been naturally beautiful.
Cole however though he had accepted Kara in my life refuses to spend any time with her. And I couldn't force him so he had spent most of his time with his grandparents, Hazel and Erin.
Not that I mind but I just wish he would give Kara a chance.
Uncle on the other hand wanted to fill me in on what had happened in the time he had found her on the beach, during those six months. I for one wanted to know but that can wait. For now I wanted to show Kara around. And just wanting to know had been push back by just being near her. Did I want to know what had happened? Of course I did. But it didn't matter as much. All I cared was about how she ended up here and uncle still doesn't have the answer to that.
Jamie and his family couldn't stay and had went back home. Apparently they had enrolled their kids in preschool which should be starting soon. And as for Chris and his wife, I haven't seen nor spoke to him since the birthday part which was odd. Usually Chris would always popped in my home unannounced and as for Clarissa, my PA had told me she had tried to visit me during work hours, thank goodness I had taken a vacation. Thankfully she doesn't come to my home like Chris. The last time she had came, Hazel and her had spat a few words which I didn't mind if it kept Clarissa out of my hair. As for Kara I couldn't be more happier than I am now.
Gripping her waist she brightly smiled at me. My thumb gliding down her chin as I leaned against a counter while she placed herself between my legs. So far in these past few weeks we did nothing but kiss. Light kisses. I was in no rush to do anything with her. Did I want to do more? Hell fucking yes. But for now I didn't want to overwhelm her with new surprising things. Just being with her and holding her is enough for me.
Sometimes I fear that I would wake up any minute and find out that it was all a dream.
Throughout the days we would go home hand in hand only to be met with a very angry Hazel and a sad Cole. He wasn't sad or angry at me but more for his mom.
"Where the hell have you been?" Hazel fumed and glaring at Kara at the same time. She has been sleeping over a lot these days and trying to get in between Kara and I. Not once has she actually left me alone aside from when she is asleep.
"Out!" I coldly answered before greeting my son.
"Hello dad, Hi Kara." Cole sighed seeming uninterested in our presence.
"Cole." I called.
"Yeah dad."
"Kara has something for you." As we were out Kara thought she wanted to get something for Cole which was sweet. Of course I paid for it.
"For me." Cole smiled lightly. Just as Cole stepped forward Hazel had held him back. "Mom."
"No Cole. You can not accept anything unless I was the one who chose it."
"Hazel." I growled. "This is for Cole."
"None sense Collin. Who knows what she could have put on it. A curse maybe." Hazel snarled.
"Honestly, you really think that way?" I shook my head in disbelief.
"Mom, it's just a gift." Standing in front of Kara, I watch as Kara removed the item from the bag and placed it in his little hands.
