An older man had sighed looking through his window thinking of the now mixed in with the past and a little of the future. Which it was held with uncertainty.

Taking a cold cool towel, he began to wipe his brow from the sweat that was building. It was deffinately another hot day considering the sun has gone down, the wind would a least pick up. But no, not even the waters were stirring. The only thing that was seen was the reflection of the moon. It was a full moon and just like any other day he had made his rounds through and through.

It has been a while since he saw his whole family which consists of his nephew, niece, grandson and of course his other niece who he now has to consider seeing she is the mother of his grandson. Regardless if that woman is married or not. Sure he would get phone calls every once in a while but it is not the same.

Exiting his lab of which he would spend his days there, he silently walked along the beach in the sand back to his brother's wife. That would be unorthodox if his brother was still alive, he wouldn't even think twice about her being nothing more than his sister-in law but she was heart broken and so was he ever since his brother had died from a heart attack. Both there for each other. He wasn't planning on falling for his sister-in law but the heart had spoken otherwise.

Continuing his long journey home but to him it was short. It was just on the other side of the beach. Who would have thought though that today out of all nights would be different. Perhaps it was the air or the waters but things were starting to changed until there was a slimmer of something up ahead.

He didn't know what it was but it did stop him in his tracks. Slowly making his way, he had made out a body. A very wet, naked body. A person! His mind was going into a frenzy state. How is a person on his beach. He thought. Was it dead? He had wondered afraid to know the truth. He has never seen a dead body before but just the thought did frighten him.

With heavy foot steps he made his way towards the lifeless body. Its legs were bent in a funny position, and its hair was splayed all over its face until his eyes had reach its chest. A woman!

"Excuse me." He silently called from afar in hopes she would respond back. Thinking he should run back home and call for the police. "Miss." He called once again only for her to stir where she lay.

Oh, thank god she's alive. Moving forward, the man kneeled besides her moving her hair out of her face until his mind went totally blank. Was he seeing things? Stupid nephew, now he has got him imagining her. He thought.

"Mmm." She moaned. Never in his life did this feel real. Lifting her head gently, he placed it on his lap. His eyes now scanning her body from head to toe? Her legs? This can't be real. Blinking once hoping she would disappear but she still laid there on his lap. How is this even possible? After years of searching she just washed up on shore, and on two legs no less.

Reaching her torso it was marred with a few gashes but nothing that a first aid couldn't heal. Perhaps he was asleep in his lab and this is just a dream. Maybe he really isn't out here and sleep had won for the night. This was just all a dream. A dream that feels so real.

Dream or not though, there was this naked lady on his lap!

Placing his hands under her, he had lifted her up trying not to fall after all she wasn't that light, until her eyes fluttered open and finally made in contact before looking around.

She was just shock as he is.

Only staring at him in confusion before wiggling out of his hold that the man had drop her on accident causing her to wince at the impact towards the ground. She looked a bit frightened at her surrounding as she wiggled both her legs and toes. As much as she was confused, the man stood next to her never once thinking of leaving her to fend for herself.

Parting her lips a part a soft sweet melody began to play of which he did miss hearing her speak.

Kneeling once again beside her she looked at him at the sound of his voice when he had spoken her name, "Kara."

"What is going on in here?" After opening the door, Cole stood in his place just gawking at us.

I have never known embarrassment before and not by my own eight year old son. Quickly I pulled back.

"Nothing Cole, go back to bed." Not listening to a damn word I said, Cole made himself comfortable on my bed.

"Really because it look like you both were about to suck each other's face off."

"Cole Burnell." I yelled not liking his tone of voice with me.

"What!" He replied calmly.

"Just earlier you and Kara seemed to be getting along."

"Well yeah but she is not my mom." He stood up just glaring at Kara. Thankfully Kara just smiled not understanding the situation.

Bending down to his height, "Look Cole. Your mother and I we don't do well together."

"But dad," he whined, "Mom loves you, don't you love mom?"

What do you say to your child that his parents are never going to get back together. "Cole, I love your mom, I do in a different way." My head slightly turned towards to a beaming Kara not believing she is actually here. "Kara here is my friend and..."

"Your mistress." Cole finishes.

"What! No!"  Where the hell did he get that from?

Cole's lip straighten into a thin line seeming to shake with not only fear but with an attitude problem. How the hell did he get an attitude problem? Just hours ago, he was smiling with Kara and no...I paused thinking in that short moment I left him alone with Hazel. "Did your mother teach you that word?"

Again he spoke no word. "Cole you will tell me now or so..."

"Please don't be mad at mom. She just doesn't want to loose you."

"Cole bud, your mom will always be a part of my life. But there are things that you are just too young to understand."

"That is always the case dad. I thought that with time you and mom would..." he began to tear up.

"I know son but your mother and I will just be friends. No more than friends please understand. And you will always be my good boy."

Wiping his tears away he soften his gaze before looking back at Kara, "I'm sorry dad. I'll be a good boy." Turning towards Kara, "I'm sorry." To which she only looked at him. "Dad," Cole nudged me, "Doesn't she talk?"

"Hardly but she speaks with her eyes." His question did made me wonder. If she can walk on two legs then maybe it is possible for her to talk.

"Okay, well I'm going back to bad. Good night dad, good night Kara." Cole yawned before leaving the two of us.

Taking her hand, I smiled and kissed it hoping this is not just some elaborate dream because if it is I would gladly smack myself.

"Kara." Her eyes glistened at the sound of my voice.

Taking my hand, I gently caressed her cheek. She is just like how I remembered. The urge to touch her, to hold her was building. And like a flash I had pulled her towards me crashing her body against mine as she maintains to stand on both her legs.

My face dipped in the crook of her neck enjoying her scent. Yup as always she smelled like seaweed.

Kara! My Kara. She is finally within arms reach. There is so much questions now floating around my mind. I wanted to know how is this even possible. Not that I am glad but I just want to make sure she stays here permanent with me.

Unfortunately, I know for a fact that nothing is ever permanent but as long as I am here I will make it so. No one is going to take her away from me again. Not even the waters calling can rip her away from me.
