Collin

"Calm down there son."  Uncle stood in my way blocking the only path to her.

"What the fuck do you mean calm down?"  I roared.  After everyone had left and my mini reunion with Kara, we are now back home as mother had whisk her away into the room that stood behind uncle.  And for reasons unknown I am out here wanting her to once again be in my arms.

Eight long years without her and now that she is within arms reach I'm not allowed to go even near her.

"Get the fuck out of my way uncle or I will have you maimed."  I didn't care if he is family.  No one, and I mean no one is going to keep me away from her.

"Collin, I am your uncle and you will respect me."  He glared not liking the tone I had carried with me.

"Then move."  I demanded but uncle stood rooted to his spot.

"Listen Collin, there are a lot of things you don't know."

Oh I know that for sure.  And I had so many questions that I wanted answers to.  But those questions can come later.  Right now I wanted nothing more than to just hold her in my arms make sure she isn't some sort of dream.

I didn't want to wake up one morning only to find out this was some dream.  Calming down, "How is she here and how long was she here?"  Two questions that had plagued my mind.  Because as far as I know mermaids can't walk on land.

"Here is the thing bud, she has been here for about six months..."

"Six months!  Six fucking months!"  I yelled.  Holy fuck, she has been here for about six months and only now he tells me this.  If I knew she was here I would have hopped on the next flight out of here.

"Damn it uncle, why the hell are you telling me this now?  You should have told me this the moment you saw her."

"I had my reasons Collin."

"Fuck your reasons.  You know damn well how long I have longed for her."

"Yes and you could wait just a little longer."

"You don't get it do you uncle.  She is in my dreams, she plagues my mind and everywhere I go I have seen shadowy figures.  I tried hard to get over the fact that perhaps she would never come back and for a minute I thought I was going crazy but my heart wouldn't allow me to forget her."  I told him honestly.

"I'm sorry my dear boy but as you can see she is here with you right now and everything that she is feeling right now is a first for her.  The plane ride to coming here and..."

"I should have been there with her."  It was true.  I know in the past I have taken her out of the waters before but to actually go on a plane and seeing new things must be overwhelming for her.

"I know but..."

"I want to see her."

"Collin, let her rest till morning okay."  Uncle comforted.

"But uncle, I want to see her now!"

"Collin!"  Hazel called from afar.  Shit!  Why the hell is she appearing now?  "There you are?"  She looked around and relaxed when it was just me and uncle.

"Where is Cole?"

"He is asleep in his room.  Now shall we talk about what happened earlier?"

"Hazel this doesn't concern you."

"Yes it does when my son's father is involve."

"Hazel, go to your room." I ordered her like a child that she is.

"No, I will not.  What does this even mean?  Are you kicking me to the curb?"  Hazel sobbed.

"Hazel no one is kicking anyone and as of right now I want you to leave me alone."

"Why so you can be with her?"  Hazel argued. "Have you forgotten she is half fish.  So the fact that she is walking on land is impossible.  Besides this world has no place for a freak like her."

"Shut up!  What don't you understand Hazel?  I don't care if she is half fish or half dog, I will not let her go this time and you will not get in the way of that."  I yelled causing Hazel to flinch.

"But Collin..."  She cooed grabbing my arm.

"Get the fuck off of me."

"Collin." Uncle scolded.

"No uncle.  You do not get to scold me.  I need to be with her."  Pushing him aside I entered the room where mother was sitting next to Kara.  Mom was talking to her like the two were having some sort of secret conversation.  Kara however just listened while mom did all the talking.  And she smiled.  The smiled that I had missed so much.

"Collin."  Mom's eyes reached mine.  Upon seeing me, Kara stood up on both her legs still wobbly.  I don't know how she is here or have two legs but from the looks of it, she struggles to stand up.  "I'll leave you two alone."  Mom grabbed uncle and was trying to push Hazel out.

"But dear."

"No, Frederic, Collin needs some time with her."  I don't know how mom knows about Kara but I am grateful she is quite accepting.

"But mom."  Hazel called pleading with her eyes, "We can't leave them two."

"Hazel, I know you love my son like I do but if you truly love him you'd want him to be happy." Though my mom's words toward Hazel was suppose to be reassuring I could tell in her eyes it was anything but.

With a stomp all three had left, leaving me alone with Kara.  Gently gripping the side of her arms, her skin had felt rather smooth.  "Kara."  I breathed.  "You have no idea how much I have missed you."

Kara had looked down, her smiled fell.  With my thumb I had lifted her chin so I could see her beautiful ocean orbs starring back at me.  "I don't know how you are able to be here, but right now I am happy.  Thrilled actually that you are here and not just in my head."

Smiling, I watch her mouth open and close.  "Can you say something?"  When she proceeded to speak at first I was excited to know I could hear her voice but was down heartened when it was replace with soft angelic sound that I once had grown accustomed too.

"You can't speak."  Not that I am glad I can still hear her, I was hoping she could at least say my name.  Tears welled up in her eyes.  "Shh, it's okay Kara.  It's okay."  I pulled her close to my chest willing for the tears to be swept away.

Arms, her arms embraced me.  It was a moment of silence.  Just having her in my arms made me want to crumble at her feet.  If only she knew how I ached to see her even if it was just a glimpse.

Reveling in her scent, I tightly but gently grip the side of her hips.  Lifting her away I leaned to steal a kiss.  Her lips just calling out to me.  I don't know why I was nervous.  I had kissed her many times before but this felt different.  It was different.  We were no longer kids and with every passing day, she has grown more beautiful than ever.

Just as our lips were inches away a knock was heard at my door.

"Dad!"

'Oh fucking hell.'
