Chapter Six Together Again

I-I thought you were dead." Gabe sobbed into her shoulder, he couldn't even describe how happy he felt happy.

"I didn't think I would ever see you again." Clem said her heart feeling full of happiness, "I can't believe you're actually here."

After several minutes of happy embracement between the teenagers Louis called out to them, "Is everything ok?" Clem could hear the confusion in his voice.

Clementine pulled out of the hug and turned to face Louis, "Yeah, Louis. We'll be over in a minute." She called before turning back to the overjoyed Gabe who couldn't take his eyes off her. "So...you all set?" She asked.

"Oh...uh...yeah," Gabe said pulling himself out of his happy daze, "I got my stuff nearby... you want to walk with me?" He asked,not wanting to be away from her for even a second.

"Yeah, sure."Clem said,walking with him away from the school.

"So...you're alive! I just-I still can't believe it. I went back to The Ranch as quick as I could but the whole place was burned down. I-I found bodies, so many bodies...I had thought you were among them." Gabe said still staring at her.

"The place was on fire when I showed up, there were guns going off and people screaming...it was horrible...I found AJ and got out of there in a car before the place burnt down." Clementine said remembering the terrible experience.

Gabe looked at her sympathetically. A small silence followed until Gabe stopped and picked up a worn backpack and a familiar baseball bat off the ground. Gabe ran his hand down the bloody and dented bat, "I didn't want to scare you. Figured a strange figure with a bloody bat didn't exactly seem friendly." He said smiling at Clem.

"Yeah, that would've definitely would've hurt your chances." She said as they began to turn back.

"So, How did you end up here?" Gabe asked, comparing in his mind the teenage Clementine he had known to this older,almost adult Clementine.

"After The Ranch, me and AJ wandered for a while,trying to find a home. It took us a while but we found this school, it's as close to a home that I've been able to find. There are good people here, Gabe, I think you'll like them." She said, looking at Gabe. He had grown in height quite a bit and his arms had been greatly buffed up. He, unlike his younger self, walked with a confidence she had never seen. " He's really grown up..." She thought.

"Hey, if you trust them, so do I." Gabe said,smiling at her.

They were near the school now when Clem asked, "What about you? How did you end up here?"

"Huh...it's kinda a long story. After I found The Ranch burned down, I wasn't sure what to do anymore. I soon settled on making Lilly miserable, for the last three years I've been following her and her men. I ambushed them at every opportunity, I wrecked havoc whenever I could, I set their carts on fire at night, I did everything I could to stop Lilly from hurting people again." Gabe said,his nightmares flashing into his head for a minute before Clem suddenly burst out.

"Fuck! How did I forget?! Let me see your injury, I should've got you back here faster!",She said with urgency.

"Relax Clem," He said lifting his shirt up a little and revealing a scabbed hole on the far left of his stomach,barely on the body at all. "It's already healed, I just lost some blood and I was feeling weak. I was checking here to see if you guys would let me rest a while, Man,I'm lucky I did!" He lowered his shirt and looked up at the bared gate. "Uh...how are we going to get in?"

"Sorry about that, We had to fortify the place after we figured out Lilly was after us." Clem said, getting ready to climb.

"Lilly's after you? Now I'm even happier I fucked her up." Gabe said watching as Clementine started climbing over the gate.
