Clementine sighed in satisfaction as she leaned on the low wall facing the courtyard. The place looked ready for a battle, which is what they had been trying to do. "If Lilly wants this school, she'd better be ready to fight for it!" Clem thought determinedly as she looked over the courtyard.

The main gate had been blocked up and most of the tables had been flipped for cover. They had put barbed wire on the walls to keep the raiders from climbing over and Mitch was working on bombs on a table nearby. There was only way in; through the gate and that was exactly what Clementine wanted.

Suddenly she heard Violet yelling at Louis about something before he walked off. Clem frowned, "They don't usually fight, I wonder what's going on." Clem thought as she approached Louis, who was practicing with Marlon's bow. He was missing badly.

"Louis. What's going on?" Clementine asked him.

"Oh! Uh...hey...I was seeing if I was any good at this...I'm not." Louis said, he didn't laugh it off like he usually did.

"I meant between you and Violet. She looked pissed." Clem said, watching him miss again.

"Yeah...she wanted me to board something up. I told her I had to take care of something. She didn't like that, she told me to get my head out of my ass." Louis said, with a faint smile,as he aimed again.

"What did you say back?" Clem asked, as he fired and hit the target, although it was near the edge of it.

"Eh... I didn't say anything back. I knew I should board up whatever it was but I wanted to see if I was good with a bow."

"So you admit your head is stuck up your ass then?" Clem asked, smirking.

"Clem...my head is stuck so far up my ass that it's back on my neck." Louis said grinning at her and lowering the bow.

Clementine couldn't help bursting out laughing and Louis looked startled. "Fuck Clem! You scared the hell out of me!" Louis's face turned suddenly proud, "That means I finally made you laugh! That's a first!"

"Don't let it go to your head." Clem warned, still grinning.

"The head that's gone through my ass and back?" Louis asked, in a mockingly curious tone.

Clem closed her eyes and tried to control herself from laughing. Her shoulders were shaking with it though. Louis smiled proudly at himself.

After Clem controlled herself, Louis shifted the topic, "This bow here is kinda symbolic or something, Marlon used it for years to protect the school. I feel like it's kinda like a leader's weapon, you know? I wanted to see if I could use it and step up. I can't use it but I know I can step up and do more though. For years I let my best friend do all the hard work while I told stupid jokes and played stupid games. Marlon suffered for eight years and maybe-maybe if I would've been there for him, he wouldn't gotten so desperate. Maybe I could've stopped it. Maybe I could've stopped Minnie and Sophie from being traded, maybe I could've saved Brody, maybe I could've saved him."

"Louis, you got to let go of your regrets and move on. We have people who need you now, don't let the past stop you from saving your friends now." Clementine told the dejected Louis.

"Our friends right?" Louis asked, brightening up.

"Our friends." Clem nodded.

"Well...if I'm gonna step up, I should start by apologizing to you. I-I kicked you guys out and you nearly died because of it. That's my fault, my vote could've made you stay. You were right about Marlon and I still did it anyways. I'm sorry Clem, I'd take it back if I could." Louis said looking head on at her, repentance written on his face.

"I forgive you, Louis. I know why you did it and I'm not angry at you. AJ murdered your best friend and I'm sorry we did that to you, Louis." Clementine said and she meant it, Marlon had been scared and scared people do bad things. She didn't think Marlon was evil, he simply got pressured and he couldn't take it.

"Marlon was my best friend but the things that he did were fucked up. I wish he wasn't dead but I understand why AJ shot him...although it wasn't easy to see." Louis said, before offering Clementine the bow, "Here, want to try a few shots?"

"Sure. I bet I'm worse then you." Clem joked, she felt that way around Louis, light and talkative, she didn't feel like that around anyone else anymore.

"Please...nobody is worse then me!" Louis said, crossing his arms and grinning.

Clementine's drew the bow and took a shot. She missed. She fired again. Missed. She drew back slower and took some extra time to aim before firing. She hit the target low, but it was a hit!

Louis clapped his hands slowly, "Impressive. Although a raider would've probably killed you before you managed to hit him."

"Oh, shut up!" Clem snapped playfully, before taking another shot.

They spent the whole afternoon chatting and shooting. By the end of it Clem was a decent shot and Louis could hit the target on every other shot. They decided to stop before their hands started to blister and supper wasn't finished so Clementine and Louis walked around the school, talking happily.

"So, the wax melted down the side of the piano and I spent the whole next day scraping it off. Violet said that,at the time,it the angriest that she ever seen me before." Louis said as they walked the hallways.

"Did you ever figure out who pranked you?" Clem asked. She was happy and relaxed from being around Louis.

"No. Because it wasn't a prank. When I finished scraping the wax off, I remembered that I didn't put the candles out on the piano from the night before."

Clem shook her head at him, smiling, "That honestly sounds like something you would do. Cause a problem and not realize it was you."

"Hey!" Louis laughed, "I was tired that night alright? And I haven't forgotten since! So Violet was wrong when she said I couldn't learn anything!"

"Way to go Louis!",Clem grinned and clapped, "You learned to remember to put out the candles!"

Louis stopped walking and gave a bow, "Thank you, Thank you!" He said, like he had just been applauded by a crowd, a crazy grin on his face.

"Alright, Piano Boy." Clem said, shoving him affectionately.

"Dinner's ready!" Omar yelled out from outside.

Clem and Louis met eyes for a second before saying at the same time, "Race you!"

They sprinted down the hallway and out the door to the courtyard, eager to eat.
