Damon and i remained in the field as everyone else left in search for Victoria.  I turner to Damon who was silent.

I took this opportunity to ask, "Alpha, why is it so important that we find Victoria?"

Taking a deep breath, he let out a loud sigh. "Because....Our pack will fall if she isn't found."

I arched an eyebrow at him and he continued.

"Although she is human, we need a Luna."

I thought for a moment and asked, "Can't you just find another girl to be Luna?"

"No. It has to be her." Was his simple answer.

"Yeah but WHY?" I pushed for some clarity. I was hoping he'd say because he loved her. Our pack knew how he could be cold hearted.

"There is something about her that no one knows. Not even herself."

"Like what?" My interest intensified.

"That's all you need to know! Now stop asking questions." Damon growled out.  His hands balled into fists.

Shit. I pushed too far.

Ya think? My wolf said sarcastically.

Fear flashed in My eyes as i knew Damon was getting mad.

" Yes Alpha."

Damon turned and strode away back towards his house without another word.

I stood there now more confused than ever. Wondering what the Alpha was hiding. Nothing about this made sense. I decided to head back to the pack house to go find Tatum.

I entered the pack house and found Tate sitting on one of the barstools by the island in the middle of the huge kitchen.

I came up behind her and put my hands on her shoulders, and kissed her cheek.  Tate jumped as she was so engrossed in her food that she didn't hear me coming up behind her.

"You scared me." She laughed as she finished swallowing her mouth full of food.

I just smiled at her. "Me? Never." I said innocently batting my eyelashes like girls do.

She flashed me one of her million dollar smiles. "So. Did you find out anything?"

"The Alpha commanded us to not tell anyone but I can't tell you no and I know how important Tori is to you but we can't talk here."

I grabbed her hand and lead her up the stairs to our bedroom.  Once inside, I shut and locked the door. Here we could talk safely due to the enormous amount of soundproofing in the walls for uhhh, obvious reasons.

She sat on the side of the bed and I followed her lead.

"You can't tell anyone and it cannot leave this room. The Alpha will kill me if he knows I told you. The only thing that I know is that he said she has to be our Luna and there is something about her that no one knows and she doesn't even know it yet. I tried to get more information but I was pushing my luck to find any of that out."

"Well, shit. I wonder what he meant by that. Maybe she found out and that's why she left."

"I have no idea but it sounds important." I shrugged my shoulders.

Tatum looked sad as she thought about the possible reasons why her friend would leave and what Damon meant.

I felt her sorrow through our bond and laced my fingers with hers. "We will find her Tate."

"I know you will but..." she trailed off.  "But maybe she doesn't need or want to be found. I just want them to be safe."

"I don't know love, but I have no choice."

"I know you don't and I know you will try to protect her for my sake." She said with a halfhearted smile.

I rose from the bed and headed to the door. I opened the door but before I walked out, I turned back.

"Just try not to worry and don't do anything foolish."

"Me? Never." She said with a smile.

I smiled a knowing smile because I knew damn well she never listened and when it came to something important to her, well, it's like talking to a wall.

I chuckled to myself as I walked out door.
