Colts view***
"What if she rejects me?" I ran my hands through my hair.
"You have to give her time. Colt she's been through a lot." Emma reasoned.
"But what if she does after I give her time? We know what it'll do to me. She's already left one Alpha."
"You know damn well she didn't just up and leave without reason. Use your head boy. I taught you better than that!" She smacked me on the back of the head.
"Ouch" I rubbed the back of my head. For an old lady sure she still had a good swing.
Emma started to walk out the kitchen. "Try to be patient. I believe she has PTSD and that's why she's so jumpy and over protective of Kalilah."
With that she walked out the door leaving me standing by the glass doors that lead to the patio.
I stood there with my head resting on my arm which was on the glass. I didn't ask for this. I was fine before I had a mate and now she's changed things. I could have any woman I wanted.
How could I not want her though? She was beautiful and smart and strong for a human. Would she even want to be Luna again? I highly doubted it.
I am 24 years old and when I turn 25 in six months I will be of age to take over as alpha. Maybe she could change her mind till then. I was hopeful.
I decided to walk down to the lake and maybe talk to her. I walked down to where she sat by the lake.
She was staring out at the lake and didn't notice I had come up a few feet away from her.
She must have been lost in thought. I didn't blame her.
I cleared my throat to not scare her. She jumped anyway. Well that didn't work.
She turned towards me but relaxed when she saw it was me. Good.
"Quiet out here isn't it?" I started the conversation with the first thing that came to mind.
"Mhm. Good place to think."
"Yeah it does the same for me." We sat in silence for a few minutes before I spoke again.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Wasn't that a question?"
Smartass. "Well I guess so." I laughed.
She gave me a smile so I continued.
"Would you like to go to town and get you and Kalilah some clothes?"
She thought for a moment. "I guess we ought to since we may be here a while."
I thought she would say no but to my surprise she didn't.
"Does that mean you're staying?"
"For the time being. Plus, it's not like we have a lot of options." She sounded down. "But before it's final, I need some answers.
"Okay, shoot."
"What's the name of your pack?"
"We're the Crystal Lake Pack."
"I've heard of your pack. Crystal lake because of the lakes around your territory. What is your title?"
"My father is the Alpha and I will be taking over in 6 months when I turn 25."
"Ah. Are you ready for it?"
"To be honest. No. I don't think I'm leader material but it's expected of me."
"You'll be fine. It comes naturally for most."
Silence took over. "Is that all your questions?"
"For now."
"Well, let's go get your mind off things for a while. C'mon." I held my hand out to her.
She looked at it as if it would bite her. She took it cautiously and I pulled her up.
She gave me a small smile and I knew she could feel the tingles where her hand was in mine.
We headed back to the house so I could grab my keys and wallet.
We walked in the front door to come across a sight to behold.
Emma and Kali were in the living room both on their stomachs playing with dolls.
I burst out laughing at my grandmother. She looked like a big kid as she had a Ken barbie doll in her hand.
"What are you doing?" I laughed.
"We're paying dolls!" Kali volunteered an explanation.
"I see. Grandma, how'd you get down there?"
She looked up at us from the floor. "I may have bad knees but getting down isn't the problem. It's getting back up."
Victoria giggled at her comment. I walked to my room and got my things and came back. "Ready?"
"Where you two going?" Emma raised her eyebrow.
"Im taking Victoria to town to get her and Kali some clothes."
"Oh, you decided to stay?"
"For the time being." Victoria stated.
"That's fine dear. You two have fun." She waved us out the door with her hand from her spot on the floor.
"What about Kali?" Victoria asked me.
"Ohhh she's in good hands I assure you." I reassured her looking at my grandmother on the floor as if she was a kid again. "I haven't seen her this happy in a long time."
Victoria walked over to Kali and squatted down.
"Hey pumpkin. Colt and I are going to town for a few minutes. Can you behave for Emma while we're gone?"
"Sure mommy. Im having fun." She didn't take her eyes off her barbie doll.
"Okay." Victoria kissed Kali's head before she got up and came over to me.
"Let's go."
We walked out the house to my truck. We hopped in and I took off to town.
Hopefully this would be a good time to get closer to her.
Sorry this chapter is a little short.
What do y'all think of Colt?
