Bethany's POV

the time came when elvis had to leave for the arm I was trying to be strong for Gladys and elvis we got ready that day it was quiet and slow then me Gladys and Vern drove elvis to the airport it was a long and quiet drive we got out of the car my hand in elvis his other hand has all his bags

"Son you be careful when your in Germany"Vern tells elvis as they man hug

"Mama don't you cry on me now"elvis said Gladys whipped her tears

"Beth"he tells me I smile bravely

"You watch out for my mama"he says I nod

"I will I promise"I say he cups my cheeks and kisses me passionately as cameras flash he pulls away and whipped my tears with his thumb they call for his plane he kisses me one last time i wave good bye until I don't see him anymore I already miss him we drive home with out elvis it was really weird without him

"I'm gonna lay down"I mumble going up the stairs of Graceland

"You need anything?"Mary our cook asked me I shook my head no

"The only thing I need right now is elvis"I say she pulls me into a hug

"I know things are tuff "she says I let go of the hug and go upstairs I hear her sigh

I knock on Gladys door and hear her say come in she was laying in bed I know she feels the same way I do

"How you holding up Gladys?"I ask her as I move towards her bed

"I'd be better if elvis was here"she says

"I know how ya feel "I say softly

"Graceland isn't the same without elvis"she tells me I hear her sniffle i hug her and we cry for a long time

"Gladys you know elvis wouldn't want us crying over him"I said

"I know I can't help it"she cried I gently pat her back as I get up I move to my room which is Elvis's also I lay on his side of the bed with sheets over me I hope that he keeps his promise of being fateful
