Chapter Nineteen

 Hooray! I'm free! I'm free from the doctor's! Mom was finally back from her trip since six days ago and we had arrived at home about an hour ago.

"Oh Louis, you never fail to impress me." I was watching one direction videos while laying on the couch.

"Ew," Max said as he passed by.

"What?"

"One direction!"

"Ew yourself!" I yelled back. "And bring me a carrot!" I was still pretty upset about the whole Ken thing, but I was getting over it - after all, I'm used to disappointment and betrayal. Still, there was this growing hole in my heart. Just then, my phone rang.

"Hello?"

Ken's mother, Morgan, screamed through the phone.

"Woah, calm down, I can't understand you."

   She took a deep breath. "Ken is feeling really depressed and I didn't make a big deal about it because he's bipolar and what not but my neighbor said she saw him driving towards the lake and he had told me he was going to your house!"

"What?"

"I'm stuck in traffic - please go down to the lake and make sure he's OK! He was talking about committing suicide but I didn't believe him!" I could tell she was crying.

"I'll be there!" I yelled before turning the phone off and running to the door.

"Where you going?" Max called.

"The lake!" I yelled back. Once again I felt slight pain, but kept running. I kept running until I got on the bus and ran to the lake. "Ken!" I yell. "Ken where are you?!"

     I hear a faint crying sound and follow it. There's Ken, holding onto the railings, about to jump in.

"Kenton!!! Ken what are you doing!"

"Nikki, you never want to see my face again, you won't. I'm causing trouble for my mom, too. She's being bothered by my father and it's all my fault. And I'm keeping you and Jay apart. Bye Nikki."

"Ken, are you serious? I'm sorry, OK? I was hurt! You were kissing Hayden! Now get down from there!"

"No Nikki, Hayden was kissing me. I love you with all my heart and would never do anything to hurt you. I'm sorry I have this stupid disorder. I'm scared one day I wont be able to snap out of it and you'll be gone - so I'm leaving this world..."

  I started crying as I tried to tell myself this was a nightmare.

"Tell Jay I said to take care of you."

"Ken, come on, stop it!" I ran over and held Ken by the waist.

"Nikki let go, I don't want to take you with me." I heard sounds of car doors slamming and looked back. Ken's mother ran down the hill, while two cops walked behind her. She stopped and let me talk to Ken.

"Ken...It's OK. I believe you. You were'nt kissing Hayden. Please don't kill yourself over me."

"It's not only that, Nikki. I think I have to do this."

"Please Ken..." Tears streamed down my face. "Stay..."

"Kenton!" Morgan called as she ran to us. "Ken, mommy's here. I'm sorry I abused you, I'll never touch you again, if that's what you want! Just please don't kill yourself!"

"Why not?"

"Because I love you!" Ken turned around and stared at his mother. Without saying a word, he hugged her. I smiled as tears rolled down my cheeks.

"It's alright mom, I'll stay," Ken whispered as his mother cried. The officers realized they weren't needed and walked back to their car. Ken also gave me a hug and a kiss. 

"I love you," he whispered in my ear.

"I love you too."
