(A/N: Just a little warning that it may get depressing.)
Five years had passed but it was painfully slow for Hoseok.
First day of senior year in high school.
The boy was not dumb, he knew Sehun would do something to embarrass him in front of the whole school claiming that it was 'tradition'.
Hoseok was sick of it.
His whole life he never got to experience what it was like to have a friend. To have a caring parent. To have someone that would stand up for him.
To have someone that would care about him for just a second.
So here he was, tightly holding a knife in his hand as he stared at himself disgustedly through the bathroom mirror. It was one in the morning and his door was locked to give him privacy for what he had been planning to do for a while now. Something he should've done years ago.
Think about it, what did he have to lose?
If life was already this bad for a 'brownie' like him in school then he couldn't imagine how much worst his life would be in the real world once he graduated.
If he killed himself... the stars would still shine, the moon would come out and the sun would still rise. He was a useless addition to a world that he was never welcomed in.
The universe threw him into this miserable life like a helpless bait for fishes to feast on and surely, that was what the fishes did.
He was ready take away the pain.
But of course...
The world had other plans.
The small box by the corner of the mirror dinged and all Hoseok could do was groan, rubbing his face with one hand while hiding the knife in one of the cabinets with the other as he pressed a button to speak.
"Yes?"
"Hoseok-sshi, you're parents want to speak with you." The head maid spoke through the monitor.
"I'll be right there." He sighed.
Another failed attempt.

Hoseok bowed politely as he stood in front of his parents in his father's office.
"Take a seat Hoseok." His father ordered, not bothering to make eye contact with him.
The boy did as he was told, quietly sitting down on the sofa across his father's desk. The high schooler was anxious, his father never talked to him unless it was something extremely important.
"I wanted to talk to you about our plans for your life after you graduate." His father said, years of smoking evident in his raspy voice.
"P-plans?" Hoseok gulped, looking at his mother who stood next to his father's chair with a look of dissatisfaction just from being in the same room as her son.
"There has been a new business proposal in the last meeting I attended." He sighed, leaning back in his chair. "And that is for you to get married to one of our new business partners' son."
"Wait... a-an arranged marriage? But sir-"
"No buts Hoseok. The deal has already been made." His mother decided to speak up, silencing the brown-eyed boy.
"You will be eighteen before summer arrives and we'll send you and their son to America to solemnize the marriage. You two will live there until their son finishes college." His father ended off.
"But what about m-my life here? I was going to go to a good college-"
His mother laughed, cutting him off. "Do you really think a college would accept someone like you?"
The boy was taken aback but at the same time her response was one of no surprise.
"I-I guess not." Hoseok lowered his head in defeat.
"Go to sleep. School starts in a few hours and I do not need you to be late on the first day. Right after class ends, you'll go home and change into something presentable because we'll be having dinner with your future parents-in-law and husband."
"Y-yes, ma'am." He stood up, bowing politely to the two before scurrying back to his room.
It was dim. The only source of light was the moon shining through his window. He slowly walked to the bay window and sat there. His hands were slightly shaking as he hugged his own stomach, looking for any sort of comfort. Looking at the fog covered moon, he finally let the tears roll down his cheeks. The droplets shone as the moonlight followed each one after every fall.
He couldn't be mad. In a sense it was funny... his parents sold him off without a second thought. He couldn't say that what they did was unbelievable.
Of course they wouldn't care about him,
He was a brownie after all.
