The weekend ended just as fast as it started and next think the brown-eyed boy knew, it was the start of his second week of senior year. He was dreading it.
It was lunch time, meaning the loneliest part of Hoseok's day. As usual, he sat at the very end table that no one wanted to occupy.
"Hey brownie!" He heard Sehun mockingly chirp but Hoseok didn't bother to look up. The guy was most likely going to throw more insults at him and he had no other choice but take them without complaints.
Though he was soon startled when hands slapped on the table in front of him. He looked up to meet eyes with the same male, making him gulp in fear.
"Did you just ignore me?" Sehun questioned in a menacing tone, lowering his head to level with Hoseok's.
"N-no." The other squeaked out, involuntarily dropping his chopsticks in his tray. Everyone in the room watched in amusement yet no one bothered to step in and stop anything.
Sehun hummed in satisfaction. "Good answer." He slowly stood up again before unexpectedly grabbing Hoseok's milk carton. The boy was ready to get soaked in his own drink, covering his face and accepting defeat.
But when nothing happened, a few gasped around the room made him immediately open his eyes. He was greeted with the sight of Sehun's hand so close to his face, holding the milk carton. It took him a millisecond to realize that it's held back by another hand. Hoseok looked up in confusion to see Jimin grasping the boy's arm while his other hand held his tray of food with a calm expression.
"That's a bit much, don't you think?" The shorter sweetly smiled before letting go of Sehun and plopping himself next to Hoseok. Only then did the brown-eyed boy notice Yoongi trailing behind him who sat across from them, an irritated aura surrounding his presence. Soon followed the rest of Jimin's friends who also sat on the same table, both confused.
"Do you need something, Sehun-sshi?" Jimin innocently asked, placing his own milk carton on Hoseok's tray to replace the other one. Sehun looked outraged as he huffed, storming out of the cafeteria, leaving whispers to erupt through the students who had just witnessed something out of the ordinary.
Hoseok was starting to feel uncomfortable of all the constant looks he received from being accompanied for the first time in his life.
"Uh Jimin-Hyung, why are we sitting... here?" The red head sitting next to Yoongi questioned, trying his best not to come out as offensive to Hoseok.
"Why are we sitting with the brownie?" The other bunny-toothed boy asked innocently as he sat on the other side of the brown-eyed male, earning a smack in the back of the head from Jimin.
"We don't use that term, Jungkook." Jimin scolded the boy who's blue bambi eyes widened as he bowed in apology. The pink haired male turned to Hoseok with a smile. "Sorry about him, he's a freshman and he doesn't know any better."
Hoseok could only slightly nod, noticing how Jimin avoided answering their questions and went back to eating his food. He lightly tugged on the boy's sleeve, keeping his head down.
"J-Jimin." The vulnerable one softly called which caught the male's attention. "W-why are you sitting here? Please, go sit at your regular table. I don't want you guys to be humiliated by sitting with me." Jimin was about to protest but the redhead had beat him to it.
"No no no. We're completely fine with sitting here." The boy beamed, a radiant boxy grin on display. "Jungkook and I wouldn't mind making a new friend, right Kook?" The said boy nodded with a toothy smile.
"I'm Taehyung by the way and I'm a junior." The redhead introduced himself, reaching his hand out to shake Hoseok's, the boy hesitantly taking it. Jungkook followed, doing the same as his hyung.
Jimin smiled at the interaction. It was clear that Hoseok wasn't used to people being friendly to him, it was foreign to the boy.
"I still don't see why I have to sit here." Yoongi muttered which caught everyone's attention.
"Babe." Jimin said in a warning tone.
"What? Don't you think people would judge us for sitting with the fucking freak?"
"Yoongi shut up." The pink haired boy gritted through his teeth, seeing as Hoseok was now cowering in his seat out of self shame.
"Why should I? He knows it himself." Everyone didn't bother to keep arguing with the oldest, knowing they'd just go in circles, so they decided to ignore him. Everyone except Hoseok.
Because as much as he hated it, the older's opinion of him mattered the most according to his fragile little heart.
