The kids were at school, so Mary Jane and I decided to go for a walk. We hadn't had anything remotely romantic in months, so we decided to try and get our romance back.
I didn't tell her that I saw (Y/n) during her attack on Times Square, because I knew exactly how she would react. She'd be extremely pissed.
She hated (Y/n) and anything to do with her. Jealousy, maybe? Which is odd, because why would she be jealous of a girl she thought was dead?
None of it made sense, but I decided not to anger her.
We were walking down the street when she intertwined her hand with mine. I looked down at our hands awkwardly and smiled at her.
Her hand was sweaty.
Suddenly, she smirked and pulled me into an empty alleyway and swiftly pinned me against the wall.
"Uh, hi," I said, not knowing how to reply to what just happened.
"Hi," she said, biting her lip. She moved in and started kissing my neck, which made me wildly uncomfortable. Mostly because we were on a busy street, and people were looking at us weirdly.
"Mary Jane, we're in public," I mumbled. She pulled away from me and crossed her arms.
"I don't get you," she said.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"I throw myself at you and you do nothing!" She exclaimed.
"We're in public," I said, confused.
"That shouldn't change anything. You're my husband, Peter. You haven't acted like it in months," she said sadly.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Come on, Peter. You haven't done anything positive or negative towards me in the past 4 months. You've just been so distant," she said. I sighed.
"I've been going through a lot," I said.
"Like what? (Y/n) died 15 years ago! You haven't gone through shit since we were married," Mary Jane exclaimed.
"That is not true. Just because I don't tell you every single detail in my life doesn't mean I'm not going through anything," I said angrily. Mary Jane scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"It's because of her, isn't it?" She said.
This was my chance to come clean. Tell her the truth.
"Yes. It is about (Y/n)," I said with a sigh. She covered her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes.
"I knew it. She's dead, Peter. This is a problem. You need help," she said.
"No, she's not. When that soldier attacked Times Square... it was her. I was there with Ben," I explained, trying to remain calm.
"Oh, so you saw her and realized that she's the one that should be your wife?" She asked, offended.
"No! Where on earth did you get that from?" I asked, not even caring about the people that walked past and heard us.
"It's obvious, Peter. Ever since Rosie showed you that picture you've been drooling over a dead girl," she yelled.
"Let me finish! Ben ran up to her and recognized her. I went to get him and I saw that it was her and... a lot of things came back," I said. Tears were streaming down her face now.
"I can't believe this," she said.
"I think we should get a divorce," I said. This caused her to gasp.
"No. I will not divorce you. You're just going crazy, that's all," she said, wiping the tears away.
"I'm not going crazy I'm in l-"
"Don't say it!"
"I'm still in love with (Y/n)!" I yelled. MJ slapped me with her purse and ran out of the alley, leaving me in there by myself.
I leaned against the brick wall of the alley and looked up at the sky. It was dark and cloudy, probably about to rain.
Of course it hurt me to say those things to MJ, but it needed to be said. I can't live on in this relationship pretending to love her. It's not healthy for me or for her.
Suddenly, it started drizzling.
"You mean that?" I heard an all too familiar voice say. I looked up to see (Y/n) standing at the entrance of the alley. She was wearing a (f/c) hoodie and her hair was a little wet from the rain.
I got up slowly and walked over to her, taking her hands in mine. I looked in her eyes and smiled.
"You're alive," I said.
"Damn right I am," she said, taking my face in her hands and pulling it in, kissing me passionately.
I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her even closer, never wanting to let her go or for this kiss to end. I missed her so damn much.
"I've loved you all along," I said, breaking the kiss and leaning my forehead on hers.
"Really?" She asked, smiling and looking down at the ground.
"Of course. No one can top you, (Y/n). God, I even missed saying your name to you," I said. She chuckled and wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me into yet another passionate kiss.
It was raining hard now, but we didn't care.
Eventually, lightning started, so we decided to rent a hotel room at a nearby Holiday Inn. I didn't want to go home, and neither did she. She couldn't come to my house for obvious reasons, and I couldn't go to the compound because of my fight with Tony.
"Room for two. One night," I said to the secretary at the counter of the hotel. She looked at us with a raised eyebrow and typed something into her computer.
"And I assume you want one bed?" She asked with a wink. (Y/n) snorted behind me as I blushed.
"Perhaps," I said. The lady smirked and typed something else into her computer.
"Room 74," she said, handing me two room keys.
"Thank you ma'am," I said, taking the keys from her.
"Have fun, you two. Not too much fun, don't want any noise complaints," she said. (Y/n) started cackling as I dragged her to the room.
Well, this should be fun.
