In the off chance you survive the end of your world, or in the off chance the end of the world doesn't come for you at all, it's believed that there's stories you should hear.
The end of the world started with a festival.
Well, it didn't exactly. It started long, long time before that. Years and years, centuries and centuries.
The conclusion of the end of the world, though, it started with a festival.
A dark, coily-haired girl shouts to a friend,
"Emmett! Come on! I wanna do it by the fountain, it'll look badass that way! And people can watch!"
And an almost nerdy-looking boy responds,
"There's no shade there and you know it, Leia. You'll be at the advantage."
"Then you'll just have to try harder to beat me!" She grins, walking back to Emmett and shoving him lightly.
"I want a fair fight. Let's head to the market."
"Lame. We're gonna get in trouble for knocking over a cart like last year." She sticks her tongue out but follows him regardless.
    "That was on you."
"I never said it wasn't, I just acknowledged the fact it happened. Let's... Compromise."
"I don't trust that." Emmett looks her up and down, and absolutely doesn't trust the look on her face.
"You don't trust anything I do or any ideas I have. I was just thiiiiiinking, maybe, the shade tree?"
"So you can throw the leaves at me."
"I hate you and how well you can read me, you know that?"
"You don't hate me. I've grown on the idea of fighting near the fountain, let's go with that." Emmett decides, and Leia sighs, because they were already walking the other direction. But she follows him nonetheless.
A figure observes and taste-tests all that she can.
"Glory! I was hoping I'd see my favorite customer. Try this." They get a sample shoved in their face.
"You do understand that my name is Gloria, right? This is good. Could use more salt."
"Of course I do. I totally didn't forget after I started calling you Glory. How's your mom doing?"
"How she always is. She got over that sickness she got a few months ago, thankfully. I'm not ready to be ruler yet." Gloria takes another sample, elbows on the food stand.
"Wonderful. If you take another sample, I'm going to start making you pay."
"Oh nooo," Gloria draws out dramatically, "I don't have any of that!"
The clerk smiles and laughs. "I know, I know. I will make you pay, though."
She pops another sample in her mouth, "Yeah, one moment."
The ground directly next to her rumbles for a moment, and then a small gem shoots into her hand. "How much of this can I buy with this?"
"About a quarter of the stand."
"Okay, that's a lot," She kicks a few rocks into the hole left by the gem, "How about just your typical serving size. And the rest you get from this is a charitable donation."
    "Fine by me! Thanks, Glory!"
An idiot and their best friend has a terrible idea,
"Max, absolutely not. How am I more mature than you here?"
"They're only a few fireworks, I do it all the time without getting caught. It'll be fun. And you can fix whatever I do with your agrokinesis."
"You only like me for my plants, rude! Come on, let's at least do something that won't get us in trouble? I already got yelled for trying to ride a horse." The girl pouts.
"Alright, alright, fine, Alyssa. You up for..." Max holds up their car keys, "A joyride?"
"Obviously! I'm always up for a joyride! Can I ride on the back? Can I drive?" Alyssa bounces happily.
"No and absolutely not. I have my car in the parking lot, we'll just fuck around and do some donuts."
"You're going to kick up so much dust! I like this dress, Max, the moment we get out we'll be covered!"
    "So?"
"You're the responsible, older one here. Figure it out."
Max groans, taking off their flannel, "There. Put that on. Then at least the top won't be fucked up. And I'm not that much older than you."
"Five years is a long time, Max."
"Yeah yeah, whatever. And hey, I'm supposed to be like your sibling, not your babysitter."
    "Yeah yeah, whatever. Car time!"
    And someone gets sick.
