Walking (slightly limping,) we were finally at shore, ready to canoe. This was going to be fun I could tell, being with my friends trying to survive on water. We could chat about literally anything and people won't eavesdrop or call shit satanic.
"Kirk! Hey!" I said, greeting him with a smile. Turning around, he saw me and smiled as well.
"How are you?" He asked, seeming excited.
"Great! You seem like you want to ask me something, what is it?" I said, also seeming excited for what he was going to say.
"Well, everybody seems to have a partner... so.. you want to be mine?" He said.
"Of course! You're my friend. Why wouldn't I?" I said, seeming to make him happy with my answer.
"Yay!" He said, pulling me into a hug. A random person called us around, explaining all the rules and what is expected of the canoeing.
"All right!" He called out. "This year, for the first time, we will have 3 people canoes! Find a 3 person group and wait there!"
Cliff, James and Lars got into one group while Jason and Dave formed a group with this other kid named David.
"Shit..." I muttered, looking around. Getting anxious, I looked around. What if we get one of the bitchy blonde girls or jock guys who will constantly control us, or what if they even...
Stopping my thinking, my anxiety went overboard, and I started breathing heavily. Oh please god no, I don't want to go with any with them..
I felt Kirk grabbing my hand, as if to calm my anxiety. Looking up at him, me only 2 inches shorter then him, I smiled. Damn, I am smiling a lot.
"BUT THE CANOE CAN FIT 4 PEOPLE, RIGHT? PLEASE, I NEED TO GO WITH THEM! NO, YOU CAN NOT DO THIS!" I heard a shrill voice whine.
The dude who was organizing teams looked around, then saw us. "Ah, I found you a group."
Showing the whiney girl to where we were, he smiled. "You guys are only a group of 2, right? Well, please welcome Tara to your group..."
OH HELL NO.
