Chapter 2

    “Are you sure I made the reservation? You watched me, right? Maybe I should call just to make sure.” Forth said grabbing his phone. Jane, his coworker and friend, laughed and grabbed it from his hand.

    “Calm down. Everything is going to go great. Stop worrying so much. From what you’ve told me, even if you guys were at home eating pizza and purposed he would say yes.” She said, trying to reassure him.

    “Okay. Okay.” Forth said nodding slowly. Jane laughed again and shook her head.

    “I’ve known you for almost a year, and I’ve never seen you act this crazy. He must be a really amazing guy.” She said. Forth nodded again and smiled wide.

    “He really is. I love him with everything I have.” He said before turning his wide smile into a smirk. “And, speaking of being an amazing person, when am I going to meet this mystery girl you’ve been dating?” Jane blushed and looked away.

    “I don’t know. We aren’t that serious.” She said, trying to shrug it off.

    “No no no. You’ve been dating for three months. I think it’s getting serious.” He said. Jane laughed.

    “Says you. You’re about to purpose to your boyfriend.” Forth laughed at her words.

    “I know.” He said smiling wide again. “I hope everything goes okay. I planned everything perfectly. I got him his favorite flowers and favorite candy. We’re even going to his favorite restaurant.”

    Their conversation was interrupted by Forth’s phone ringing. He smiled when he read the caller ID.

    “Hey, love.” Forth said answering the phone.

    “Hi, baby. Pha just called me and wanted us to go over there for a little bit. I think he wanted to plan something for Yo’s graduation from college.” He told Forth.

    “Okay, do you wanna pick me up from work? We can go over together.” Forth suggested.

    “Sounds good. See you in a bit.” He said. “I love you.”

    “I love you too.” He said before hanging up. Jane teasingly poked him as he hung up. He laughed and pushed her hands away.

    “So cute.”

    “Shut up.” He said. “I’m gonna go get dressed. Beam will be here soon to pick me up.” He said walking away from her teasing.

    Beam pulled up outside the gym and texted Forth that he was there.

    When Forth walked out of the gym, Jane was following him, smiling and still teasing him. Beam didn’t know who she was and took distaste in her touching his boyfriend.

    “Hey.” Forth leaned over and placed a small peck on Beam’s list.

    “Hey, who was that?” Beam asked as they drove away.

    “Friend from work.” Forth said shrugging. Beam nodded and didn’t push farther. He was probably being paranoid. Forth didn’t even like girls.

    Once they arrived at Pha and Yo’s apartment, Beam wasted no time and immediately started questioning Yo about his wedding plans.

    Pha had purposed to him three weeks before his birthday. He and Forth had been discussing their proposals for months. They would discuss it with Ming as well, but they eloped, deciding not to invite their friends. They had cute pictures, though.

    “I can’t wait until I get one of these.” Beam said once Forth and Pha were out of the room, doing whatever.

    Yo laughed.

    “You’ll get one soon. You guys have been dating for three years. He won’t last much longer, having him just as your boyfriend.” Yo joked. Beam laughed and shook his head.

    “I hope not. I’m not going to be the one to purpose.” Yo laughed.

    “Do you guys even live together?” Yo questioned, but immediately felt bad. “Sorry, that sounded mean.” He said. Beam smiled and shook his head.

    “No, it’s okay. And yeah. Sort of. We have two different apartments, but only because I work super long shifts at the hospital sometimes and the second apartment is closer. We spend most nights together. Also, sometimes when we fight, I go there to cool down.” Beam told him. Yo nodded and patted Beam’s shoulder.

    “You’ll soon be a fiance.” Yo said causing Beam to laugh.

    “Do you have to phrase it like that?” He asked.

    Their conversation was over when Pha and Forth walked back into the room. Forth walked over and put his arms around Beam's waist, pulling him close.

    “What were you guys talking about?” He questioned. Beam shrugged.

    “Just Yo’s plans for the wedding. You’re lucky you guys are rich.” Beam said joking. Pha laughed and pulled Yo closer by the waist.

    “Thanks for your help.” Pha said patting Forth’s shoulder.

    “No problem.” He said. “We should really get going now. We have a wonderful anniversary dinner to attend. So, if you’ll excuse us.” Forth said grabbing Beam’s hand.

    “Have fun.” Yo said as they left.

    They quickly drove home and got dressed. They didn’t have that much time, but they made it to the restaurant and were seated immediately.

    Forth’s hands were shaking like crazy every time he reached into his pocket and felt the small velvet box.

    “Welcome back.” The waitress said once she approached the table. That’s how often they go there. “Your usuals?” She asked. They both laughed and nodded.

    She took their order and left them staring at one another.

    “Happy Third Anniversary.” Beam said smiling wide. Forth smiled wide as well.

    “Happy Anniversary.” He said before taking a deep breath. “I love you.”

    “I love you too.” Beam told him. Forth shook his head and laughed. He took a deep breath before he continued.

    “No, I mean I really love you. I love you so much. I want to be with you for what they call forever. Being with you this long has made me someone better. Someone who can actually love. Someone I want you to be able to trust and feel safe with.” Forth told him.

    “What are you talking about?” Beam asked laughing. He reached across the table and took Forth’s hand. “Of course I trust and feel same with you.” Forth smiled and shook his head.

    “What I’m trying to say is, Beam,” He said pulling the box out of his pocket and holding it to his side. “Wi-”

    “Beam!”
