The next morning, Beam woke up to an empty bed. Forth was nowhere in sight. There was also no note, which he usually left when he had to leave for work before Beam got up.
He checked his phone as well. No calls or messages. He checked for Forth’s work bag and surprisingly, it was still there.
Beam thought he must have forgotten it when he left for work so, he decided to take it to him.
Beam was a little upset that Forth hadn’t woken him up when he got home like he said he would.
Beam drove to the gym and parked just outside the doors.
He grabbed the bag from the passenger's seat and walked in the building and to the front desk.
“May I help you?” The front desk lady asked.
“I’m here to see Forth.” He told her.
“Do you have an appointment. I see here he isn’t booked for another hour.” She said in confusion. Beam laughed and shook his head.
“No. I’m his boyfriend. He left his bag at home this morning. I just came to give it to him.” He told her. She gasped and laughed.
“Sorry. Of course. Go on inside. He’s probably in the locker room. He just got here.” She said. Beam tilted his head confused.
“Thanks.” He said before going inside.
Just got here? Beam asked himself, confused. Then I should have seen him.
“Forth?” Beam asked, entering into the locker room. Forth was laying on the bench with his arm over his eyes. When he heard Beam’s voice he stood up quickly.
“Hey, baby. What are you doing here?” He asked in a low voice. Beam took one look at him and scoffed, dropping his bag to the floor.
“So either you helped Jane, drank, and came home, but didn’t wake me up because you were too tired. Or, you never came home last night and stayed at the bar getting drunk. By the smell of you, and the fact that you still have the same clothes on, I’m gonna go with the latter.” Beam said crossing his arms.
“Beam. I swear it’s not what you think.” Forth said walking to Beam and rubbing his arms.
“No, Forth, it is in fact what I think it is. You didn’t even come home.” He said taking a step back, out of Forth’s arms.
“Beam, come on. Don’t act like this.” He said. Beam scoffed.
“Don’t act like this.”
“Don’t act like this? Are you kidding me?” Beam asked, surprised at what Forth was saying. “You didn’t even come home last night. You got drunk at a bar and could have done god knows what.” Forth chuckled bitterly at Beam’s words.
“Are you saying I cheated?” He asked. Beam shook his head.
“I’m not. I know you wouldn’t. But you could have done something else, or someone could have done something to you. You didn’t even call or leave me a message. You could have at least done that.” Beam explained. Forth sighed and rubbed his temples.
“What are you so mad about. I’m sorry, okay?” Forth said. Beam rolled his eyes and scoffed.
“No, it’s not okay. You told me you would be home and lied.” Beam said.
“It wasn’t that big of a lie. It wasn’t even supposed to be a lie. What are you so mad about?” Forth asked.
“You could have messaged or called me.” Beam said raising his voice. Forth groaned.
“Do you have to be so fucking loud?” He asked, also raising his voice. Beam had to admit that flinched a little bit. Forth had never snapped at him before. “Seriously? God, you sound like a nagging wife. Just yak yak yak. Shit. Are you mad that I didn’t come home and have sex with you?”
Beam walked forward, slapping Forth across the face.
“I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with you, but this is not the Forth I know. I’m leaving now. I have work. So do you.” He said turning around. “And one more thing.” He said as he stopped at the door. “If you’re still acting like this when you get off work, don’t come home.” He said walking out.
Forth cursed and ran out the door, grabbing Beam’s hand to turn him around.
“Don’t fucking touch me.” Beam said pulling his back and leaving the building.
“Shit.” Forth said kicking a pile of foam cubes.
He really messed up.
