“You’ve reached Beam. Leave a message after the beep. If I care enough, I’ll get back to you.” Forth sighed, waiting for the beep.

“Beam, please answer. I’m sorry. I don’t have an excuse for acting like that. I don’t know why I did. I’m so sorry. I love you. I don’t want you to forgive me, I don’t deserve it yet. Just, please, message me at least so I know you’re okay.” He said before hanging up.

“No answer still?” Jane asked setting a cup of coffee in front of him. He shook his head and took the coffee. “If it makes you feel any better, Jennie finally called back.” She said, giving him a small smile. He sighed and shook his head.

“It doesn’t.” He said. She sighed and patted his shoulder before standing up.

“He’ll get back to you.” She said before walking away. And, as if Jane was a fortune teller, Forth’s phone beeped. It was a message from Beam.

BEAM: I’m at the mall. I’m doing some shopping. And I don’t forgive you yet, but I still love you.

Forth smiled and kissed his phone, feeling better now that he knows Beam is okay.

It was almost time for Forth to get off work and he couldn’t wait to see Beam.

When it was time for him to get off work, Jane told him that he should go to the mall and buy Beam something of his favorite to show how sorry he is. Forth agreed it was a good idea and went.

He assumed Beam would be done and at home, so there was no chance of them seeing one another.

Forth wondered around the mall for a good twenty minutes before he found a store that sold Beam’s favorite cake. Beam always asked for it every time they were at the mall. It would be perfect.

He walked in and bought a couple of pieces of it before deciding to just wander around for a little bit.

He was about to head for the exit when he saw Beam. He quickly hid behind a large pillar as he watched Beam smile and stand up from his seat in the small coffee shop. Forth looked to the other chair to see, none other than, Toei stand up as well.

They were laughing and carrying away as they left. Toei would touch Beam’s arm and it took all of Forth’s strength to not run up and knock her down.

He watched them leave before moving out of his hiding spot.

Beam had not once mentioned that he was going to the mall with Toei.

Forth figured that he would at least have the decency to mention to his BOYFRIEND that he was going to be hanging out at the mal with his EX-GIRLFRIEND. But, no big deal right?

Forth couldn’t believe it, but he wasn’t going to jump to any conclusions. He wanted to talk to Beam about it in a calm matter.

He decided to leave and drive back to the apartment but gave Beam enough time to get home first.

When he arrived home, Beam was standing at the table taking things out of a couple of bags.

“You just get home?” Forth asked setting the bag with the cake in it on the table. Beam smiled and nodded. “I’m sorry about earlier.” Forth said looking down. Beam sighed and shook his head.

“I am too. I was in the wrong as well. I shouldn’t have slapped or yelled at you. I may have overreacted a little bit, but you were in the wrong as well. Next time, please, at least message me, and don’t think for one second that you won’t be sleeping out in the hallway if you ever say that again. You practically called me a slut.” He said. Forth nodded and wrapped him arms around Beam tightly. He kissed his cheek as they pulled apart.

“How was the mall? Fun?” Forth asked as Beam continued to take things out of his bags.

“It was nice. Went to that little coffee shop you took me on our second anniversary. It sucked though, cause I had to it there all alone and drink my delicious coffee.” Beam said laughing and wrapping his arms around Forth’s neck. Forth stiffened slightly. Beam didn’t seem to notice.

“All alone?” Forth asked. Beam nodded.

“All alone.” He repeated. “I tried to get Kit to go with me, but of course, Ming seduced him. Pha was working, and after work, he and Yo were gonna go on a date so, I decided to go alone.” Beam said. Forth backed away from Beam, knowing he was lying about being alone, straight to his face.

“I got you something?” Forth said taking the cake out of the bag and set in front of Beam. His face paled.

“You went to the mal as well?” He asked trying to laugh it off. Forth nodded.

“Yeah. And you know who else I saw at the mall?” Forth asked picking up his jacket and keys. “You with Toei.” Forth laughed and shook his head. “Funny, right? Especially because you said that you were alone. You know, not with your ex that you have history with.” Forth said laughing again.

“Forth, wait.” Beam said grabbing his arm. “Let me explain.” He said. Forth pulled back.

“It’s okay. I think I need some space. I’ll call you when I’m ready to talk. Why don’t you call Toei, though? I’m sure she would love to spend time with you.” Forth said before pulling the door open and leaving Beam standing there, looking like an idiot.

Forth walked down to the parking lot and fell against the wall. He felt a tear roll down his cheek.

He pulled out his phone and dialed Jane’s number.

“Hey, have you and Beam made up?” She asked immediately after picking up. Forth sniffed and wiped away his tears.

    “Can we meet?”

“Sure? Where?” Forth cleared his throat.

“I don’t really wanna go out. Can I just come over to your place?” He asked.

“Yeah sure. I’m gonna take a shower. I’ll leave the door unlocked, so just walk right in.”
