Meeting again by chance

(Loki's point of view)

I was in the dragonchild missionary and in the background Lulu was arguing with Shadow about stolen food. Honestly I was used to it at this point. They had a sort of love and hate relationship.

As I was looking at the board a girl I'd become friends with over he years that had passed came up to me.

"Would you die of not working for one day?" She questioned me.

"It just keeps me busy and I think less about certain things when I'm busy is all" I answered her.

I heard giggling behind me then.

"Oh, she likes daddy" Hope and Angel giggled.

I sighed. It was normal I guess but the only one I could truly love was Darkness. I could be friends with other people but they wouldn't be her.

A dark look came into my eyes now. It had been a while since I'd thought about her since I'd been so busy with work and things that I barely had the time to think about it.

She looked sad then and looked down at the ground. "Hey, I didn't mean to make you upset. I didn't realize......." she told me.

I tried to put on a smile for her and I think it was somewhat convincing. "It's fine. You had no way of knowing. Besides, I don't really talk about it anyways so you couldn't have known" I answered her.

"Why don't we have fun tonight? It's not gonna kill you to stop working is it?" She asked me.

"That depends on what fun is" I replied.

She flushed then as she realized how very wrong that could sound out of context.

"Oh no. I didn't mean it like that" She told him.

"In that case maybe" I answered her.

"Well, if you decide you want to hang out tonight I'll be at my usual spot. I'm going there now so see you Loki" she told me.

I waved back at her and when she finally left I looked at the job request board again.

"Dad?" Hope voiced tugging at my shirt to get my attention.

"Yes, hope?" I asked turning around to face them.

"You should go hang out with her tonight" Hope smiled at me.

"Yeah. It's not good to work all the time Daddy" Angel added.

"I know that's not a good thing. We need money though" I told them.

"We've got plenty of money. I don't think you've even realized how hard you've been working lately. Why don't you just take it easy for a while. Please for us?" Hope asked.

When they said for us I was pretty much baited into saying yes. I cared very much for them and they seemed very worried about me then.

"Can I at least go on easy jobs?" I asked the kids.

"Sure. Can we go with?" Hope and Angel asked.

"Yeah. What job would you guys want to go on?" Loki asked. 

"This one" Hope and Angel both pointed at the same job.

So that day me and the kids went on a lot of mini adventures. The kids were happily laughing by the time we got back and I had on a slight smile.

The sun looked as though it was starting to go down so the kids came to me again.

"You should go see her" Hope told me.

"Yeah. She's really great to hang around" Angel added.

"Alright" I voiced doing it for them and not for me.

I had this rising feeling that she had a crush on me.

I walked to her place, a beach and she sat near the water looking at the crashing waves as if deep in thought. Suddenly she looked as though she was gonna leave when she saw me and came up to me.

"There you are. I was afraid you wouldn't come. After all, fun is good every once in a while" She smiled.

"Bree, I appreciate everything you've done for me and being a good friend. It's just I feel like somethings grown between us with you at least. I love someone else though" I told her.

She froze for a minute then. After a few seconds she smiled. "Thank you for telling me. Your a really good friend" she smiled.

"I try to be. So is there anything you wanna do here?" I asked her.

"I appreciate the offer but I need some time for me now so" She voiced.

"Yeah. I understand. I hope you find someone that'll love you the way I do her. You deserve that" I smiled a little at her.

"Yeah" She replied smiling back at me. She turned around then and began walking to her car. I stood here not sure what to do now.

It was there that I saw a blonde looking in my direction. When I looked at her a bit more closely she reminded me of Darkness.

"You can't save her" she voiced.

"I will and there's nothing you can do to stop me. I just need to practice magic some. Then I'll finally be able to save you" I told her.

"Your real determined to see yourself fail aren't you?" She asked.

"I won't fail because the power of love is stronger than anything you could ever dream of having" I replied.

"Still believe that hocus pocus? If so you still have a lot of growing up to do" she told me.

"Just you wait. I promise you one day she will be free" I told her.

"Right, well I'll take my leave now. I was only here to see what you were up to is all. For her purposes not mine" She replied back.

"I love you Darkness" I told her then.

She just walked away then. I had a feeling that she heard me. After seeing her go the pain I'd been hiding all along came at me with full swing now. I slowly made my way to my favorite bar. Without me even calling her she was there.

"You have the power to see the future or something?" I asked her.

"No. Something just told me to be here. What's wrong? You look awful, are you okay?" She asked.

"I'll explain later. For now could you just be a friend. Take me home please" I  asked her.

She nodded and so we spent the night together at the bar. She took care of me when she needed to and she stayed with me that night at our house.
