The sky was blood red as I rushed from alley to alley, dodging the screaming citizens while rushing to the town center. Some of them recognised me and yelled for me to stop, but I didn't.
I can't stop. Not when the multiverse is counting on me!
My stamina may not be the best, but my endurance was better than most people. That's how I could handle this "obstacle course" without tiring out that much, since the paths were narrow and tiny. Every time my legs tried to stop, I reminded myself that everyone was counting on me, so my legs kept on going.
Failing this time was not an option.
It was an absolute no-no.
I eventually arrived at the town center, where some scientists and researchers who lived in the town were cowering in front of Tomako, the horrible person who was smirking as if he had already won. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Konju, wearing all black without his cowboy hat, keeping an eye on the scientists while holding his nunchucks threateningly. His own parents were in the crowd of people, which made me grip my fists tighter.
"All right, listen up," Tomako lazily smiled as he stood up from his make-shift throne (AKA a bench). "I want you all to create something that will help us Dark Balancers immensely."
"And what makes you say that we would help you?!" the leader of the scientists, Taregi Nikenu, demanded.
"Simple," Cue the return of the smirk that made me want to hit him. "I never said it was going to be on your own free will."
My eyes widened. He's going to hypnotise them! All right, Aruke, time to think up a plan!
A plan formed after I took stock of the scene, and a small smile curled up on my face. I adjusted the glasses on my nose.
All right, time to go.
I pressed the emerald on the daggers, and almost immediately, a vine shot out from the ground. I closed my eyes, trying to control the vine. I imagined it as a part of me. The vine quickly complied and quietened down.
I then pointed to Tomako, and the vine retracted back before, seconds later, resurfacing behind Tomako and lifted him up into the air just as he was about to hypnotise them.
"AH!"Dekane immediately whipped out a whip and tried to hit the vine, but it resisted and continued to swing Tomako around like a rag-doll.
One part of me felt super satisfied looking at that, but I shook that off quickly and sneaked off to where my dad was being held hostage by Akeu. I sized up my opponent.
Okay, so this guy is strong and bulky, but that only means that if he falls, he does it hard.
Using that as my secondary weapon, I slowly approached him from the back, my footsteps slow and steady. Once I got close enough, I suddenly jumped and kicked him down with my right foot.
Akeu was taken by surprise, that was for sure, because he fell to the ground, flailing his arms. Then, I had another vine restrain him before I turned to my dad and used the daggers to cut the ropes.
"Aruke!" he quickly hugged me.
"Dad!" I hugged him back. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about this entire business-"
"The Aruke I know usually has a good reason for keeping these kind of things down," Dad shushed me. "That's why I forgive you."
"Thanks Dad," I smiled at him.
He grinned back as he ruffled my hair, "That's the Aruke that I remember and love. Now go save the world, okay?"
"Got it," I nodded happily before I rushed off to where Konju was.
