~6th grade~
I gripped the straps of my backpack with the sheer force of a bear as I walked through the hall. I hung my head low so as not not to be noticed by the people surrounding me. My heart jumped out of my chest as I passed a group of 8th graders who's vocabularies seemed to consist of only curse words. The group included 3 people, the tallest towering over most of the people in the school. He had the potential of being attractive but his obvious lack of personal hygiene and matted curly brown hair ruined that. I would learn later that his name was Jack, he was the bully of the school. I pretended to look the other way as I passed them and was able to go unnoticed, my heart rate slowed back down to a normal pace. I closed my eyes for a second to celebrate my small victory and to catch my breath and continued down the hall until I reached my locker.
My locker was located in the 7th grade hall because my first period class was Pre-Algebra, a 7th grade class. My hands trembled with fear, I was the only 6th grader there, thoughts of insecurity filled my head and it became harder to breath, what if the 7th graders made fun of me? What if they didn't like me? What if I'm the only 6th grader in Pre-Algebra? My head was spinning with these thoughts and I became unaware of my surroundings. Before I knew it I was falling to the ground and all of my books were scattering across the hall. I sat there, stunned. I kept my eyes closed, fearing that they would betray me and fill with tears of embarrassment. "Are you okay?"
