Hospital Flowers

        Link stayed with me the entire day at the hospital, reluctantly leaving when visiting hours had ended. The nurse had told me that I would have to stay at the hospital another day after that so they could moniter how I was doing without it. I hated that thing, it was so annoying and the air that pumped through was icy cold.

        I couldn't fall asleep, I kept thinking about the trial. I had never been to court before. It made me anxious, I knew that I would have to testify and it made me sick. I hated public speaking.

        Hospital food was disgusting. It was worse than school food. It was usually lumpy or gritty. When I woke up the next morning I was greeted with flavorless pancakes and sausage that was like gelatin. In mid-bite I was greeted by Link.

        "Hey Link!" I invited with a mouth full of food.

        He smiled then looked at my platefull of food in disgust.

        "What is that?"

        "I think it's supposed to be pancakes and sausage." I replied as I took another bite.

        "How can you eat that?" Link looked as if he were about to gag.

        I shrugged my shoulders, "I'm hungry."

        Link nodded his head.

        "Hey," I inquired as a thought came to mind. "Shouldn't you be at school?"

        Link grinned. "My mom said I didn't have to."

        I smiled as I sat up and threw my legs over the side of the hospital bed. I stood up and grabbed the tank that the oxygen mask was attatched to before linking -heehee- my arm with Link's.

        "So," I started. "I hear the hospital has a nice garden outside, do you wanna take me for a walk?"

        Link smiled, "It would be my honor to take such a fine young lady on a walk." He laughed, trying out his best British accent.

        I giggled as he led me out of the hospital room to see the hospital flowers.

        I tossed and turned

        In sterile apathy

        Until the violets

        Arrived for me

        The bouquet burst

        And blossoms filled the room

        And the place got smaller as they grew taller

        And taught me to bloom
