Math, because it was the first day of school the seating chart was configured in alphabetical order, I found out then that Link's last name was Neal, mine was Lamont so we were only seperated by 2 people, the closest to me was a girl named Karen, she was also a 6th grader which was a relief. The other was a very VERY tall guy. He had short dirty blond hair that was just above a buzz cut, and he towered over everyone, he was probably even taller than Jack! He also had blue eyes but they weren't nearly as bright as Link's. When Link went to sit down he gave him a high five, I figured that they must have been friends. Link leaned back in his chair and gave me a mischevious look that said "Let the fun begin!" I silently laughed and gave him a thumbs up.
The math teacher, Mrs.Ron was horrible! She had curly grey hair and was so old it seemed as if she could fall down dead at any moment. She was short and seemed to have no sense of style or personal hygiene. The worst feature was her attitude, she always seemed to be yelling at someone. Once when she was busy going off on someone Link leaned back in his chair, turned to face me and used his hand to copy her talking. I had to cover my mouth with my hand to keep from laughing out loud.
The rest of math was a bit of a blur, I didn't really pay attention, I was too busy messing around with Link. Everyone was given a bunch of papers that our parents had to sign as well as a stupid syllabus filled with a bunch of stupid rules. When the bell rang Link walked to my desk.
"Hey Lily."
"Hey Link."
"Hey, are sitting with anyone at lunch? You're welcome to sit with me!"
"Sure!" I answered quickly, too quickly. "I mean, um, if it's not any trouble..." I started to blush, could he tell that I liked him?
"Of course, no trouble at all!" He smiled.
I smiled back, he was so nice...
"Well, I'll see you at band!" Link called as he headed down the hall.
"Yep!"
"Bye Lily!" He started to turn the other way.
"Bye Link!" I replied, barely below a shout and tried to find my LA class. I wasn't looking forward to a class without Link...
