"You need to go home, Mark."
"No. I'm not leaving mom."
"You can't miss classes, again. Mom wouldn't like that. Go now, I'm here. I'll take care of it." Johnny hyung assured me and hugged me tightly.
It's been almost a week since the festival and it's been almost a week since my mom was hospitalized. She passed out at work, overfatigue, it was somehow a good thing Johnny hyung is here because if he wasn't I don't even know what to do.
The doctor said that mom will be fine and she just needs to rests but I am still worried, after all, she wouldn't have to work if it weren't for my dad. I now know why Johnny hyung's mad at dad, I understand his frustration.
"Hyung," I said, picking up my backpack and preparing to head out, he looked up at me expectingly, "I'll find a job."
He was about to scold me but he just sighed and nodded, we've already talked about this and I know that mom wouldn't approve but with our situation, I can't just stick around and do nothing.
"Please don't tell mom."
"As long as you promise to not fail." He said, I nodded assuring him and bid my farewell.
I was riding the bus home when I heard my phone buzz, it was a call from Koeun, I quickly ignored it and turned my phone off immediately.
I have been missing school for the past days which should really not be an issue since it's just the last days until summer break. Tomorrow would be the last day of school so I'm not really worried about that. I have been also receiving messages from Yeri and Lucas but I really can't deal with them right now.
I arrived home and started cleaning, putting the dirty clothes in the washer, and cleaning the living room. After that has done, I went to open my laptop and decided to print out some CVs, instead of going to school, I decided to look for a summer job nearby. This shouldn't be hard right?
I quickly took a shower and closed my eyes to relax a bit.
I remember the life I had back in Canada. My brother would always take me out to go to the movies or the park on weekends while on weekdays we always just go home late after school. It was just our routine for the past couple of months until my brother started working when I discovered about my parents' relationship.
I clenched my fist remembering how mom looked crying at her room one night. I saw how miserable she was and how a mess she looked. I never really understood the reason, I knew it was my dad but the main reason, I had no idea. Until now..
I quickly got dress and went out. I walked around nearby and casually went inside some restaurants, introducing myself and asking if I could work part-time. But unluckily, they're not hiring.
I was not giving up though, I kept walking and I somehow ended up in the convenience store nearby our school, with all the thoughts running through my head, even I have no idea why I ended up here.
I decided to give it a shot, I talked to the manager and got the job. They are also willing to pay double if I accepted to work at the night shift.
"The normal minimum salary is 10,000 won, but if it's okay for you to do the night shift, you'll get double minimum salary." The manager said and I quickly accepted the offer. It's not bad though, usually at night there are less customers.
After getting the deal, I turned my phone on to tell Johnny hyung the news. I also received some text message again from Lucas and Yeri but I just ignored them again. I decided to go home and rest for a bit.
