"Wake up, honey. Time to go to school."

The sun was shining brightly and it met my face, I squinted and covered myself with a blanket as my mom sat at the edge of my bed

"Come on, dear." She persisted as I sat up on my bed, half-awake as I yawned and stretch my body fighting the urge to fall asleep again.

It's gonna be the first day of school, well, in my world that is. I was an exchange student and it's the middle of the semester right now. My mom decided to move to Korea a few weeks back and without any notice, I learnt that I was coming too.

"Shower and get dress. Your uniform should be hanging behind the door. I'll prepare your breakfast." Mom said as she ruffled my hair and went back downstairs

Being the good kid, I forcefully pryed my eyes open and walked into the small bathroom that we have outside.

The new apartment we currently are staying in is pretty small compared to our house back in Canada, I wonder if this was mom's house back in the days.

She really didn't told me why we needed to move to Korea. I know that there has been some problems going on with dad and the company he works for but my older brother, Johnny, told me to not worry and take care of mom for now while they handle some business problems. So I just followed their orders.

"Mark, you'll be late. Hurry up now."

"I'm coming, sorry." I was lost in thought. I quickly scanned the yellow uniform hanging behind my door. Do we really have to wear this? Back in Canada, when you're in High School you don't have any uniform, except for gym class. It was really new to me.

I shrugged it off and just wore it; we don't wanna break rules on our first day. I quickly dry my hair using the towel and jogged out to get some toast mom made

"Hey! Breakfast." She ordered but I kissed her on the cheek and just waved at her goodbye.

The school's not far away from here though I wanted to be there early to familiarize myself with the campus and the students.

As I make my way down the campus, I immediately hear some murmurs around, I'm not really bothered since I transfer schools a lot back in Canada. And one of the reasons why I really didn't have a permanent friend.

"Hey, you're the new hagsaeng!" A tall guy with brown hair and big eyeglasses suddenly stopped me and said while smiling widely, he seems to be in a jolly mood.

"Ah yes." I said, my tone low since I'm really not confident with my korean, don't get me wrong though I understand korean it's just hard for me to enunciate some words so I tend to talk low and slow.

"I'm Lucas! I'm also a foreign exchange student from China. We're in the same class, right?" I looked at his pin and saw that it was also silver so he is a junior student also, I shaked his hand and nodded.

"I'm Mark. Mark Lee. I came from Canada."

"Oh? Canada! Wow man that's awesome!" He suddenly spoke in english very loudly causing some students to stare at us weirdly.

I couldn't help but scoffed but fought myself from laughing out loud and offend him. He let out a chuckle and swung his arm around my shoulders as he dragged me to walk with him

"I know my english is kinda rusty and also my korean is not that good, I need to have a tutor, maybe you can teach me in english and in exchange how about I teach you Chinese?" He offered and I just nodded. This Lucas guy seemed friendly, at first look you may think that because of his physique he'd be a bully but really he's just a funny guy.
