It has been over a month now since Koeun left without notice. It has been over a month now that I'm still waiting for her to come back. It has been over a month of agony, trying to find the reason why she gave up everything and just disappeared.
No one really knew what happened to her. Not even one of her neighbours, not even her favorite sunbaenim Seulgi or hoobaenim Haechan knows. Everyone is clueless as to where she is or why she did it.
"Mark, are you with us?" The professor suddenly woke me up and I nodded abruptly, he told me to go up the class and solve a math equation. I sighed and just did what he says.
I was focus on the problem and I saw a peripheral vision of my professor nodding.
"Seems to me that you are with us. Nicely done. Back to your seat." He complimented and the whole class applauded as I just ignored and went back to my seat.
I received a text message minutes after, it was Lucas asking me to grab drinks tonight. I sighed and just ignored it for a while, knowing Lucas he'll not take no for an answer so why bother replying.
After class, I went straight to my dorm and took a nap. It has been a few weeks now since I last saw Yeri, the last time we spoke together was when I was drunk and I was crying in her arms.
Thinking about it now, I'm kind of embarrassed that they saw that weak side of mine. That was the few instances that I share with them my vulnerability. It was always with Koeun that I'm comfortable to be weak around.
"But you're not here anymore." I muttered, I heard someone open my door and it was Lucas. He demanded me to take a shower so we can grab some drinks at the nearby bar.
I groaned in annoyance but in the end, I just went with him. It has been a while since I drank with just Lucas.
"So, ready for finals?" He asked, grilling some meat on the stove while I poured soju in his shot glass.
"So-so" I answered, not really caring.
"I'm dreading with mine. I never knew majoring in arts would be so hard."
I started with my first shot of soju and I nodded.
"I never even expected you to go with Fine Arts, dude. I thought you wanted to be a racer." I joked but somehow it's true. I remembered the time Mr. Park asked us what course we want to take in college and Lucas answered 'racer' which led him to the principal's office.
"That was the plan... this-" he said and raised his shot glass, "this is reality." He then drank and ate a piece of samgyupsal.
I know what he meant. Reality isn't always equal to your plans or dreams.
"Well you're no better, you said you wanted to take up business management but ended up taking education instead."
I chuckled, "this is reality." I retorted back and raised my glass which Lucas did the same and we clank our glass together before drinking.
"Lucas?" We both looked up and saw a bunch of girls going our way, they seem to be Lucas' coursemates as he greeted them.
"Oh, hey Yuqi. Dinner?" He asked, the girl nodded in response.
"Can we join you?" She asked a few minutes later but before Lucas could even decline, she and her friends sat immediately on our table and I saw how Lucas looked at me apologetically. I mentally cursed but just managed to show a straight face.
As they finished ordering, Lucas sat beside me and one other girl on my left side.
"By the way, I'm Yuqi. Lucas and I are coursemates, this is Yujin and.."
