~Chapter 5~
The party was just in a few days and my mom was running around from store to store getting stuff like decorations, food, music, and more. I kept asking her for help but she kept telling me she didn't need it, so I just went up to my room. I took out a piece of paper and pen and decided to write Jeremy a letter.

So when I finished writing the letter I read it out loud to see how it sounds:
"Dear Jeremy,
It's me, Bells. I was so happy that I got your letter! Since it took such a long time to get your letter I was kind of scared. These thoughts kept running through my mind like: What if Jeremy was kidnapped by the enemy and no one knows he's gone?! What is Jeremy just left the army without telling anyone?! And the worst one I thought out of all of them was: What if Jeremy died and the army didn't have the guts to tell his own family?! And then you wrote back and I was so relieved! How is it there? I know you told me it was boring, but I wanna know more. How are the people there? Does Iraq look like it does here at home? Do you feel lonely there? Because, actually, I feel pretty lonely here without my best friend and brother. Oh! About that! Remember how in your last letter how I said that none of the girls in my class liked me? And then you said that there has to be one girl that thinks I'm cool? Well there is! There's this girl in my class named Madeline. One day she said she liked my eagle pin and after that we became friends. Oh and also, I have a boyfriend!!! Yes, mom knows about him and she actually likes him. You might too, or at least I hope! His name is Sebastian. He's soooooooo cute! When you come home I want you to meet Madeline and Sebastian. They want to meet you so much. You're probably thinking that since I have a boyfriend I won't have time to hang out with you. And that is 100% NOT true! I plan to hang out with you the WHOLE time you're home. Yeah, yeah I know! What about Sebastian and Madeline? Well they'll just have to know that my brother is WAAAAAY more important to me. I love you, Jeremy!"
I folded up the letter and ran downstairs. I went outside and put it in the mailbox for the mailman to deliver. My mom still wasn't home yet, so I waited outside for her. It was getting kind of cold after 15 minutes of waiting so I just went inside the house.

Today is the day of the party! I didn't get a response from Jeremy yet, but it doesn't matter because he's coming home in just 4 hours!! I go in and take a shower while my mom does the same in her bathroom. 20 minutes later, I come out and let my hair dry while I pick out an outfit. The outfit I choose is a purple and green floral high-waisted skirt with a green tank top tucked into it from Forever21. And I decide to wear my blue Converses with it. I put my hair up in a pony-tail and let my bangs hang. The last touch? I put in the Gold Eagle Pin into my green tank top, visible for everyone to see.

Only 15 minutes left till Jeremy comes home. Everyone is here inside my house. My mom is talking with her brothers and sisters, most likely about how's she doing with dad being gone and Jeremy being gone for a while. I'm with Sebastian and Madeline in the Living Room sitting on the couch talking.
"So what is Jeremy like?" asks Madeline.
"He's really handsome, smart, kind, nice, funny, and fun to be around. He's one of those people that once you meet him you're automatically his best friend", I told them.
"Was it hard with Jeremy being gone for 3 whole months?" Sebastian asked.
"Yeah, actually, it was extremely hard. Not only was my big brother not around, my best friend in the whole wide world wasn't there either", I said as one tear came out of the corner of my eye. Sebastian pulled me in for a hug.
Then I heard my mom say, "Everyone shhh! Someone is knocking on the door! It could be Jeremy! Everyone be quiet!!"
I ran to her side as she opened the door slowly.
