~Chapter 6~
My mom opened the door to two strangers dressed in dark gray suits. They asked my mother to step outside. She followed them. I tried to follow them too, but they put up their hand and my mom told me to stay inside. When I turned back around the whole party was silent and they were all staring at me.
"Try the food everyone" was all I could say to get the party going. Suddenly everyone started talking and the music was going.
"What do you think that was about?" asked Madeline.
"I have no idea, hopefully nothing bad", I replied. All of the sudden, the front door swung open and my mother ran up the stairs crying. I look out the door to see the two men walk down my driveway and into their car. I close the door. The whole house is silent once again.
"Try to keep the party going", I whisper to Madeline and Sebastian, "I'm going to run upstairs and check on my mom".
"OK", they both say at once.

I run upstairs and see my mom curled up in her bed crying.
"Mom?" I say.
"Oh Isabelle", she wipes her tears and turns around to face me.
"What did those men say to you outside?" I wonder.
"Come here, Belle. Sit on the bed", she says and pats an empty spot on the bed next to her. I walk over and sit on the spot she patted.
"What is it?" I ask her.
"They told me that your brother's tent was under attack..", she started. My heart dropped. "..the enemies were throwing bombs and the whole tent just blew up! Some people made it out alive with just a blown off leg or arm. Others, well, they weren't so lucky", she continued.
"Where is my brother?!" I demanded to know.
"They don't know. All the bodies that were left dead were easily recognized. And the soldiers that made it out were, of course, easily recognizable too. They just couldn't find your brother", she said.
"No!" I said as a tear fell from the corner of my eye. My mom wrapped her arms around me and pulled me into a warm hug. My brother, no my best friend could possibly be dead. The day when he was supposed to come home we find out that he could be dead. This is horrible. I suddenly realize that there was a house full of people downstairs.
"I'll be right back, mom", I reassured her. My mom nodded yes then curled up into a ball underneath her covers. I run downstairs to see, once again, all my guests staring at me. I slowly walk down the stairs and meet Sebastian and Madeline.
"What happened?" Sebastian asked.
"Just get everyone out of here and you two stay back and I'll tell you", I told them trying to hide the fact that I've been crying.
"Belle, were you crying?" Madeline asked.
"Just get everyone out of here then meet me up in my room", I told them as I ran upstairs into my mom's room.

After comforting my mom, I went into my bedroom and sat on my bed. Shortly after Sebastian and Madeline open the door. I started bursting out into tears. Sebastian runs over and jumps on my bed next to me and hugs me tightly. Madeline goes on the other side of me and does the same.
"What happened Belle?" Sebastian asked. I told them the whole story, about how my brother, who was supposed to come home today, is gone. That no one knows where he is, whether he is alive or dead.
"I'm so sorry Isabelle", said Madeline as she hugged me tighter.
"I'm sorry too", Sebastian agreed.
"Thank you guys. Just, at school, don't tell anyone please. I don't wanna be known as the girl whose brother could be -", a tear fell, "dead!!" That sent me off into a crying fit.
"Promise", Sebastian & Madeline said at once. We eventually all fell asleep on my bed all hugging me tight.
