I had to stop myself from writing the next part, so you know it's gonna be good lol

Barry's bed sheets were thrown off him haphazardly, the thick mass landing on the ground with an audible thump as he pulls his torso off the bed, stretching upwards with his hands straining high into the air. Tremors ran through his body, and he sighed, neither in pleasure or displeasure. As he pulled at his weary limbs, his dream hit him like a train, and he stopped, suddenly aware of the blatant heat that coursed through him at the thought.

Adam's lips, Adam's touch, everything.

He choked out a strangled sound, and leapt off the bed, prepared to forget the thought entirely. Today was important, and he wouldn't let these fruitless dreams overcome him and his day with Adam. His special day.

Despite the urgency he felt, he still hoped. He hoped that somehow Adam might show that he liked Barry the way he liked Adam. That at the end of the day their lips would collide in some way and Adam wouldn't pull away ad it would be perfect..

No. No, Barry couldn't think like that. No matter how hard he wished, it would never happen, Barry just wasn't Adam's type.

Where Adam was just everything Barry wanted and more, he himself seemed to enjoy a whole different category. Not only females, but gorgeous, extravagant girls who seemed to puff their chest out and who's jokes were almost as dull as they were.

Barry didn't want to belittle them, but he couldn't help it. They kept him from what he loved the most.

God he was in way over his head.

He pulls his striped sweater on (11 stripes, that was the rule), and doesn't even eat before he's running towards the fairgrounds, looking to meet up with Adam. When he reaches the grounds, he begins to pant, looking around for his best friend. He was nowhere to be seen, and Barry got a brief flash of terror before realizing that the fairgrounds were pretty damn big, and he just needed a bit of time to find him. With the newfound reassurance, he begins to search around, looking for distinct black hair and a striped sweater that he had been promised.

He had been walking around for nearly five minutes, prepared to start yelling his name, when he saw that gorgeous black hair peeking above a few people crowding in front of him. He pushed past them, calling out apologies as he walked swiftly towards the tall man. When he was finally in perfect view, Barry realized a few things at once.

One, Adam wasn't wearing the sweater, he had a dark purple-ish button up tucked into his pants. (Not too terrible, but a bit disappointing and kind of embarrassing) Two, he had another person with him. And three, that person was a girl, and he had his hand on her hip talking to her about something Barry couldn't detect. He stopped dead in his tracks, and felt a low, caving feeling in his chest that started to choke him. He turned away from the scene, hair falling into his face as he let his dead turn downwards, hardly looking where he was going as he made his way out of the fairgrounds.

Tears started streaming from his face at some point, and he just wiped them away as he kept up his fast walking, breathing hard.

He was an idiot.

He got his hopes up for nothing, despite telling himself that he shouldn't do it in the first place.

He didn't deserve Adam.

He walked and walked until the wetness on his face was too much and he sat on a bunch facing into a park and just sobbed into his hands.

He should be happy for Adam. He should have introduced himself, and they could have spent the day together, and Barry should have enjoyed it, even if he was the third wheel, because he shouldn't be selfish.

But Adam had promised, they were going to spend the day together and Barry hadn't been told about a girl and oh god why is he like this.

He sniffed, and the tears were still falling down his face and dripping down his chin, but there was a sort of acceptance to it.

They would have fun, Adam would be happy with her, and Barry would just laugh it off tomorrow and say he had gotten sick anyways, and that it didn't matter.

He choked back another sob and rested his head on the back of the bench, closing his eyes and letting himself almost fall asleep.

He lays there for a few minutes, his breathing slowly becoming a bit more even, and he was beginning to drift off, the sound of children playing at the playground fading into the background like white noise, when he hears his name being called. It's quiet at first, and Barry barely stirs. Then, it becomes increasingly louder, alongside a distressed sounding "Barry, where are you?"

His eyes snapped open, and he curled into a ball, realizing the voice belonged to Adam. A swell of hope before it was crushed into a million pieces and he opted to hide under his jacket (which fortunately was not striped, and was also new enough that Adam had not seen it yet.)

He held his knees tighter when he heard footsteps crush leaves right next to him, and then Adam spoke again.

"Barry..?"

Oh yeah. He was wearing his jacket when he had been at the fair. Jesus Christ.

"Go away." He mutters, and he regrets it as soon as it comes out because it sounds rude and Adam paused.

"Barry c'mon." Adam murmurs gently, and Barry feels a chill run down his spine. He stands up, jacket falling off his body and onto the ground before he picks it up and begins to walk away, head down. He could feel the tears pricking at the edge of his eyes again.

Adam calls his name, and he decides to give up. It wasn't Adam's fault, it was his.

He spins on his heel and stares straight at Adam, and lets out an exasperated "What" before really seeing Adam's entire form.

His hair was still slightly slicked back, but strands were sticking out, and his eyes were wide, and his lips were pressed together into a thin line and Barry thought he looked.. scared?

He takes a step back, and is almost prepared to run and hide again because look what he's done, but then Adam is rushing towards him and pulling him into a tight embrace and Barry squeaks because he wasn't expecting that.

And then Adam starts whispering "I'm sorry"s into Barry's sweater and Barry bursts into tears all over again.
