When we arrived at the hospital I texted Daniel to find out where they were.He told me they got a room in the ER and that they were waiting for a more average room where visitors are allowed.
Until then we had to wait in the plastic chairs of the hospital waiting room.
I could tell that Sienna was starting to get anxious. All she wanted was to see her twin sister.
Luckily we only had to wait there for about 20 minutes before Daniel texted me saying they were in room 267.
I grabbed both of the kids hands as I lead them through the hospital hallways. I needed to make sure that they weren't near any seriously sick people.
Before we went into the room, we all put hand-sanitizer on and knocked lightly before entering.
"Daniel!" Sienna yelled as she entered the room.
"Shhh," Daniel replied back, "Ellie needs to rest."
As much as this little reunion was adorable, I couldn't help but wonder what happened with Elowen. There's so much that I'm curious about, but I know that it's important for them to have their moment before I start bombarding him with questions.
"Were you good for Byron?" Daniel asked with a serious face.
"They were just fine. All they really cared about was coming to see her," I said as I pointed to Elowen on the bed.
"Okay good. Whenever I have a babysitter watch them they always get into trouble. I guess they know that if they pulled anything around you that there would be real consequences. But, where's the other girls?" he asked with confusion laced in his voice.
"I dropped them off at Amanda's house. I didn't want to risk the little ones getting sick and I could tell Maisie was far too tired to make a trip to the hospital."
"Oh. Thank you for that. I was actually kind of worried about having Lana around the sick people. Smart move."
At this point I couldn't help but as about Elowen's condition. The poor girl was just laying in the bed and just needed to make sure she was okay. I could tell by Daniels semi-relaxed state that it was nothing serious, but I still had to find out for myself.
"So what ended up happening with Elowen?"
"She has 2 broken and 1 fractured rib, a pretty serious concussion, and some stitches in the back of her head," he said with a frown. He looked up at her like he was trying to heal her with his mind. I could tell that he wanted her to be better more than anything.
"That really sucks. I had a concussion in middle school but we didn't have enough money to go see a doctor. But I can understand how bad it is to have one. Even doing simple things is enough to make your head pound."
"Yeah that's why we have the lights off. It was too painful for her. She couldn't remember what happened. She couldn't remember what day of the week it was or what she had been wearing earlier today. She didn't forget anything really important though so she'll be okay."
That was a relief. I can't imagine what would happen if she wasn't okay.
Then Elowen started coughing pretty hard. I guess Daniel saw my concerned face because he said, "It's normal for people with broken ribs to cough like that. Though it hurts like hell I'm actually glad she coughing right now. The doctors told me that if she continues to take shortened breaths that she could end up with pneumonia. And we definitely don't want that to happen."
"What's the plan for the rest of the night?" I asked. I wasn't sure if he wanted the kids here or not. After all there really isn't much room for anyone except maybe 2 other people besides Elowen. The couch really isn't very big.
"I'm not sure. But I'm glad you brought them here. I'm glad your girls and Lana are in good hands. And I'm especially glad that you're here," Daniel said walking closer to me.
I grabbed his hands and wrapped them around my torso. I then rested my head on his shoulder and held him tight. I could feel him holding me just as tight.
I lifted my head up after about a minute and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. I wish it could have been a little bit longer than that but I knew there was little kids in the room. "I'm glad I'm here too."
I let go of him and walked over to Elowen. I gave her a soft kiss on the head and then whispered, "It'll all be okay. Feel better," into her ear.
I then grabbed my jacket from one of the chairs and said, "I think I'm going to head out now. Do you want me to take one of them, both of them, or neither of them. I'm fine with anything."
"I think you should take both of them. I don't want them to have to sleep here," Daniel said as he started to help Sienna put her jacket on.
"Alright, well I am going to go and grab the other girls from Amanda and then I will head back to my house and get them some dinner then everyone will be off to bed," I told him. I walked over to him one last time to give him a kiss, "And you, try to get some sleep. I know you're probably going to be up all night worrying about her, but she's in good hands. Get some rest."
I looked over at Sienna and saw that she fell asleep on one of the chairs. I softly lifted her up into my arms and told Henry that it was time to go.
Henry was being sweet and holding open doors for me so I could continue carrying Sienna.
But of course Sienna woke up as we got to the car. She couldn't have woken up sooner? Oh well, I guess it was kind of cute.
I texted Amanda to tell her that we were on our way to come get the girls, and then we were off. Finally out of that hospital.
When we arrived at Amanda's house Maisie ran into my arms. Whenever she's away from me for too long she misses me a lot.
I eventually got everyone buckled into the car. Lana was not having it and threw a big fit. It was the kind with the kicking and screaming. The kind that makes you want to stop what you're doing in order to make them happy. But I couldn't not put her in a car seat. I didn't have that option.
But I did eventually get her into her seat and stop crying.
When we got back to the house I made some mac and cheese and hot dogs. It was one of the only things we had left in the house. Thankfully the Clark kids aren't very picky eaters and enjoyed my makeshift meal.
After dinner I got everyone in some pjs. Bailey was in her bed. Henry and Lana shared our queen-sized guest bed. Sienna was in Maisie's bed. and Maisie was in my bed with me.
All I'm saying is that it is a miracle that everyone slept through the night without a problem.
