Copter's POV

Nurse Julie and I were barely out of the elevator when we were accosted by Nurse Violet who frantically grabbed me, yelling breathlessly, "Dr. K! Dr. K! You have to go to room 603 right away! Please!"

Room 603 was Kimmon Varodom's room.

"He has been buzzing the nurses' station every single minute for the past fifteen minutes asking for you! He's driving me crazy!" I could tell from Nurse Violet's voice that she was close to losing it.

I turned to Nurse Julie, "Prepare his discharge form from my services now."

"Very well, Dr. K," said Nurse Julie, walking towards the wall with the numerous cub holes that contained different kinds of forms that the hospital used for all kinds of documentations.

I started walking towards Room 603. What was the matter with him anyway. I had no choice but to check on him for the sake of Nurse Violet's sanity.

I knocked briefly on his door before entering.

I found him banging his fist repeatedly against the side rail of his bed, his face all covered with tears. He was alone.

"Where's your fiance?" I couldn't help asking first, instead of asking him what was the matter.

"I ordered him to get the hell out of here and never show his face to me again!" he cried.

"What the hell, why did you do that?" I asked in utter shock.

"He is a lying cheating bastard! I couldn't let him leave this room fast enough!" he exclaimed angrily.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I hurled that coffee cup at him as he was leaving the room," he continued, when he saw me picking up broken pieces of a coffee cup from the floor and tossing the pieces into the trash bin by the door. I couldn't wait for the hospital janitor to do the clean up. It was a safety hazard that needed to be taken care of immediately.

"Okay, Kimmon," I said, after I tossed the last broken piece into the trash bin, "let's take deep breaths together, okay? Here we go, exhale... inhale... exhale... inhale... exhale... inhale... are you feeling a little calmer?"

He did not answer me. Instead, he stretched out his arms towards me, like a little child wanting to be carried. But he was bigger than me. I couldn't do that for him. We would both end up on the floor, with him on top of me, possibly crushing my ribs.

Instead, I bent down and gave him a hug. Wrong move. He started crying all over again.

I didn't say a word but just kept on patting him gently on his back. We stayed this way for a while until finally I said, "When you feel up to it, talk to me about it. I am here to listen."

"Newwie... he... he is such..." I noticed Kimmon looking around for something to hurl at the wall, but when he took hold of the TV remote, I grabbed it from him.

"This is hospital property," I said, "don't break it."

Suddenly he started pounding his fist on my chest.

"Ow!!!"

For every time that he pounded, I was going "ow! ow! ow! Owwie!!!"

Actually I wasn't really feeling much pain. I was just trying to distract him from his anger, to help him calm down. Maybe if I was able to shift his focus from his anger to me......

I doubled up, clutching my chest, pretending to be in great pain.

"Oh my god, Dr. K! I didn't mean to hurt you! I'm sorry! I'm so very sorry! Come here! Come here!"

First he hugged me, then pulled away and started caressing my chest in an effort to soothe the pain that I was pretending to feel.  His eyes were focused on my chest as he was gently moving the palm of his hand up and down and side to side on it, and then slowly he raised his face to look at me.

I started to feel some warmth creeping up my cheeks.

"Dr. K ... " Kimmon's hand was starting to move from my chest up to my face to caress my cheeks.

A brief knock sounded and Nurse Julie burst into the room.

"Here are the discharge papers, Dr. K..." she started to say, and then slowly backed away as if she had stumbled upon the scene of a couple just about to start making love.
