Nurse Julie's POV
"Prepare that discharge form now," were Dr. K's parting words to me as he made his way to his patient's room.
Against my better judgment, I did as I was told. I didn't want to get snapped at by Dr. K again.
However, I knew that it was against his own wishes as well, if I were to base my judgment on what he had implied during our conversation at the coffee shoppe across the street.
From the moment that he had backed out quickly from his patient Kimmon's room and had absentmindedly stepped down from the curb, getting himself almost killed by a passing van, and then scalding his tongue on his tea, I knew he had developed some feelings for Kimmon.
With a heavy heart, I walked towards his patient's room, the filled up discharge form in my hand, ready for him to sign.
I knocked briefly on the door and walked in, unprepared for the scene that was unfolding right before my very eyes.
The patient was looking up so lovingly at his doctor, his hand slowly moving up from the doctor's chest, up towards the neck, up towards the jawline and caressing it, and then moving it lovingly, towards the cheek.
And, holy of all holys, Dr. K was looking back at him, all his emotions clearly evident on his face.
Not turning on my heels but quietly walking backwards, I slowly tore up the discharge form in half.
"Nurse Juliet, what are you doing!"
Dr. K's sharp voice and the patient's wide eyed stare made me freeze in my spot, stopping my action midway on the discharge paper.
"I ... I ..." I was at a loss for words, half afraid that Dr. K would yell at me again but at the same time half defiant, ready to tell him that he would be the dumbest idiot in the planet if he were to discharge his patient now.
"Yes, Nurse Julie?" It was Kimmon who was talking to me now and so it was to him that I replied.
"I do believe that I filled up the wrong form and need to go back to the nurses' station to fetch the right one," I declared, bravely and defiantly fixing my stare on Dr. K.
My heart jumped to my throat when I saw Dr. K secretly wink at me.
I quickly turned on my heel and left the room. Quietly but internally screaming, I closed the door after me.
With a skip and a hop, I made my way back to the nurses' station.
Third Person POV
Once more, after Nurse Julie left the room, Kimmon gently placed his hand on Dr. K's cheek and let his other hand go up to the side of Dr. K's neck.
The skin of Dr. K's neck felt so silky against the trembling palm of Kimmon's hand.
Kimmon made a move to place his mouth on Dr.K's lips.
"No!" Dr. K moved away quickly, "I'm sorry we can't do this. It's against hospital rules and medical professional ethics."
"Fuck the rules and the ethics!" Kimmon exclaimed angrily, grabbing Dr. K once more.
Without a warning, the door was flung open and a wide-eyed violent looking stranger burst into the room.
"Where is Newwie?!?" he demanded angrily.
"Who are you?" Kimmon demanded back.
Dr. K's finger was already on the small pocket device hidden in the inside pocket of his blazer, ready to alert hospital security with one press of a button.
Instead of answering Kimmon, the stranger rushed to the bathroom, flinging the bathroom door open, and then, not finding Newwie there, he turned to Kimmon.
"Where are you hiding that two-timing bitch?" he demanded with hands on both hips.
Before Kimmon could answer, Dr. K said quietly but ominously, "In a few seconds hospital security will swarm this room. If you want to leave on your own steam, I suggest that you do it right now."
"You are never getting Newwie back from me!" the stranger threateningly poked his index finger at Kimmon's face before stomping out of the room.
"You are most welcome to him," Kimmon muttered under his breath.
"Do you know who that bully was?" asked Dr. K.
"No, but I can make close to an accurate guess," Kimmon replied.
"Because how did you even get involved with someone like Newwie???" Dr. K couldn't help asking.
Kimmon was unable to reply. He could only look down at the floor in mortified silence.
