I have been separated from my family for 3 months now. Today is the first day of summer break. Henry is probably watching Peter Pan with Hook.

I asked Hook if Henry could stay with him. Not because I needed him too; I could have had Mary Margret or Regina keep him. But I did not want Hook to be alone while I was gone. Sure he's a hero now, but there are still people who do not like him and he doesn't have many friends in Storybrooke.

I told my family that there was something I had to do and I would be back soon. I really don't want them to worry about me, but I knew they would. Mary Margret is always hopeful, but I'm almost sure that after not hearing a word from me for three months she must be worried. I really hated leaving them behind, but this was something I had to do.

So, I took my yellow beetle and drove out of town. And then kept on going. First I went to New York. I had to let go of my past. To do that I needed to see all the places I thought were my home, and then return to my real home, Storybrooke. And if I missed any of the old homes then Storybrooke wasn't my real home.

After visiting mine and Henry's old apartment, I went to Neal's. No one lives there and all his stuff was still there. It was hard to let go of that place, but it definitely won't be the hardest.

I drove all the way to Tallahassee. I've been here for a month and a half. This is the first place I called home. That's why I can't let go. I spend the days walking around all the places that Neal and I stayed at, stole from, and lived in.

I never thought it would be this hard. I just want to get back to Henry, but I feel like the memories are living in my head. They cloud my thoughts and feelings. I could never love another man with Neal living on in my mind. I have to do this for Henry. I need to be with my son again.

Today I am going to the place I got arrested when Neal abandoned me. The alley looks exactly the same: dark and isolated. It's 8:07 at night and a storm is rolling in. Small drops of rain begin to fall from the sky as I walk around the alley and look out to the sea.

That's new. It's a dock with one lonely ship. I walk out to the edge of the dock and study the ship. It looks oddly familiar. As I turn to the side of the ship the first thing I spot is the name.

The Jolly Roger.

But how? How is it possible that this ship would be here, exactly where I am?

A memory flashes through my mind.

"I knew that the walls were down. Transportation between world was possible again. I just needed a magic bean." He said as he raised his eyebrows into his signature smirk.

"Those are not easy to come by." I said with a smile, enjoying his story.

He looked down, unable to meet my eyes, "Unless you have something of value to trade." He says.

"And what would that be?" I ask curiously.

"Why the Jolly Roger of course." He looks up quickly and smiles like it was obvious.

"You traded your ship for me?" I ask in shock. That ship was his home. He and Milah lived there. If he truly traded it for me that meant he let go of Milah for me.

"Aye" he says after a moment of silence, his face is saddened and I realize then how much he truly cares for me. I lean in and meet my lips to his gently.

If Hook traded his ship then this could actually be it. I climb aboard without an invite and go over to the wheel. There, scratched in the wood, is the same S and P that I saw when we traveled to Neverland. This is it. This can take me home.

I walk around to the Captains quarters and call out, "Hello? Is anyone in here?"

I hear a loud thump and turn around to a man with the hairy scruff of a pirate, but the clothes of a New Yorker.

"What's your business on the Jolly Roger? Don't know why anyone would want to come on this stupid ship anyway." He mumbles.

"Actually I am very interested with this ship. Let's make a deal." I say.

"I don't see how you could want this piece of junk. Land vessels are much better, but if your interested in it you must have something of value to trade." He says with a snicker.

Of course he wants something. I have nothing though; how can I give him anything when all I have is the clothes on my back and my small yellow car.

That's it! This is how I let go. Hook traded his ship, his home with Milah, to get back to me. If I can trade that car, my home with Neal, then I can repay him and let go of my past.

"Interested in a land vessel are you? Well I have a small yellow car with me. I'll trade you for it right now." I say holding out the keys.

He snatched them from my hand and runs towards the top deck. I chase after him and watch him jump over the edge on to the dock as he shouts, "The deal is done!"

"Pleasure doing business." I say to myself.

I hope this thing still has magic in the wood. I have no clue how to steer a ship.

I walk back to the captains quarters in search of food, books, clothes, weapons, anything really. Hooks bedroom still has everything in it. He must not have took anything through the portal to New York. His clothes still hang in the closet. I take out one of his signature leather jackets and put it on. It smells like him. Salty air and endless seas. And a hint of rum.

I find a small rope and tie up my hair. It's actually quite hot down here. There are a few books on sailing and a captains log. I set the books on his bed to read later.

In the kitchen I find and old dirty dishrag and dip it in a barrel of water to wash my face. Something rough on the rag touches my face and I flip it over to examine.

It's not a rag at all. It's a handkerchief with lovely red stitching that says Killian Jones. This used to be Hooks. It must have meant a lot to him.

Wait a minute. There's one spell I remember how to do and that's a locator spell. I just need three ingredients: an item that person owned, water from the sea, and fairy dust.

Two out of three isn't so bad. I grab an old run bottle and fill it up with sea water. Maybe Hook had fairy dust. I tear oped every door, cabinet, and compartment until I find a room that must have been Milah's.

It has a closet full of dresses, small shells on a vanity, a locked jewels box, and a box of letter. I hate going through Hook's personal life but it's really the only way to get home. I search through the small box of letters. And to my luck I find a small key at the bottom. The jewelry box.

I walk over to it and find that the key fits perfectly. It clicked and I lift open the box. Inside there's at least a dozen bottles of dust and magic ingredients. At first it doesn't make sense, but then I remember that Milah was married to Rumple. She believed that light magic was good.

I grab a bottle labeled fairy dust and mix it with the sea water. Please let the work I need to get back to my son.

The water starts to sparkle and I pour it over the handkerchief. It starts to float away but I quickly grab it and get an idea. I run up to the deck and go to the mast. I use the ropes to climb to the top. This feels oddly familiar like the beanstalk, but now I don't have a flirting pirate with me.

I wish I did.

When I make it to the top, I tie the magic handkerchief to it and the ship starts to float forwards. It works! I'm going home!
