A Worried Mother

OUAT Ch13
(Snow)
Charming and I walked down the long white hall with Dr. Whale to go see Emma before her surgery. I am in protective mother mode right now. No one hurts my baby. That snow queen is gonna get it, well, after emma gets better.
"I must warn you. She most likely won't be awake right now because of the pain in her head and leg, but when she wakes after surgery she may not remember everything clearly." Whale explains.
"As long as she is okay, we can get her memories back from magic." David says with confidence.
Whale nods and continues down the hall. He says, "She'll be in a wheel chair for awhile. Hopefully we can get her on crutches as soon as possible."
He stops at a glass door in Critical Care an opens the door for us. I take Charming's hand and look at him nervously. He nods reassuringly and we step in the room together. Whale closes the door behind us, leaving us alone with our sleeping daughter.
I walk over to her slowly and take in her image. She lies on the bed in a hospital gown. Her left ankle is swollen purple. That must be the leg she broke. A brace is around her hip and her knee is wrapped in some kind of gauze which is also wrapped around her head. The blood is still visible in her blonde hair.
"Oh, Emma.." I sigh.
Charming lets go of my hand and walks around to her other side. He holds her hand in both of his and a small tear rolls down his cheek.
Why did this have to happen to her?
I hug Charming and silently cry in his shoulder. He wraps his arms around my back and cries with me. We stay like that for a minute, then he pulls apart and looks me in the eye.
"Hey, it's okay. She's gonna be fine." He sounds like he is trying to persuade both of us.
I hug him one more time and say, "I know. I'm a mother I have to worry." We both smile faintly, and then Dr. Whale walks in with a few nurses.
"It's time to take her to surgery."
I sigh worriedly and take Charming's hand as we walk out into the hall. The nurses prepare Emma to be moved in another room and Whale comes to explain some things to us.
"Surgery will take at most two hours. If all goes well we will go straight to hip surgery and alert you. Hip surgery will take three hours and then she need peace and quiet for two more. After that direct family is free to visit her." He explains with a grim face.
"So seven hours before we can see her?" David asks.
"With prep time it will most likely be eight." He answers.
"Alright. We'll go tell the others" David says.
"Your free to stay here in the waiting rooms. We have a few recliners if you want to sleep. The nurses can bring you an air mattress. You have free access to the tvs, cafeteria, and cafe. We also have a small library to get your mind off things." He offers.
"Thank you Whale." David says.
He nods with understanding then followed the nurses as they push Emma's bed down the hall.
We walk slowly back to the waiting room. Killian won't be too happy. He deserves to be included but he can not go see Emma now.
Speaking of Killian, there he is chained to the chair looking at us with confusion in his eyes, "Is everything alright?" He asks.
"Sorry Killian, she was asleep, couldn't request to see you. She's in surgery now. It will be two hours before we get any news. And eight until we can see her again." David explains to him and Henry overhears him.
"I want to see her after surgery." He says.
"Okay Henry. If your sure you want to." David replies.
We sit across from them. Beside Regina who is also still here. Killian looks disappointed. "They have to let me see her after." He says.
"If she's awake I'm sure she will request you." I say reassuringly. He nods.
"Hoo.. Killian. Sorry for cuffing you. At the time it was needed, but now it is not." Regina waves her gains in the air and the cuffs disappear. His hook is back too. "I'm afraid I must go. Still looking for a cure for Marian. I'll be back in the morning though. And I want you to keep me posted." She tells me. Then hugs Henry goodbye and walks out.
Marian was frozen by the snow queen two days ago. Regina and Emma were working together to find a cure. I think if brought them closer as friends. And I'm glad. Cause technically Regina is Emma step grandmother. Wow that's weird.
"I'm going to walk around." Henry says standing up.
"I'll go with you lad." Says Killian.
They both walk out of the closed waiting room, leaving Charming and I to think about our injured daughter.
