Peeta's POV

My phone buzzes, indicating I have a text. It's from Katniss.

From: Katniss😘💞
I think we need to break up, I don't love you anymore..

I think I just heard my heart break into a million pieces.

I decide to text her back.

To: Katniss😘💞
What do you mean? Wait. You didn't love me in the first place did you?

I press send.

About a minute later my phone buzzes.

From: Katniss😘💞
Peeta, I'll ring you and explain on a minute. Just promise me you won't be mad with me..

What is she on about? Why would I get mad?

To: Katniss😘💞
Okay? I promise I won't

I lay on the couch on the living room.

I think I have tears running down my cheeks because when my father comes in he rushes over to me.

"Peeta? What's wrong?" He asks.

"Katniss" I mumble.

"What's happened to her?"

"She's broken up with me.."

"Don't take it too personal Peet, she's under a lot of pressure at the moment, the Capitol, President Snow and Plutarch have been let out, she's only seeing Haymitch and Cinna. She'll explain it" he says as he pulls me into a hug.

"She said she'd ring me" I mumble.

As I say that my phone rings,

My father sees and let's me go, he goes to stand and leave but I pull him back down.

"Stay, please?" I ask.

"Okay" he says softly and sits back down.

I answer. It's on speaker.

"Kat?"

"Peeta, please let me explain" she croaks.

"What's going on Kat? What's wrong?"

"Snow and Plutarch showed up at my house and forced me to break up with you otherwise they'll torture you" she sobs.

"Why don't they want you to be with me though?" I ask.

"You know why Peeta, they just want my body!" She shouts.

My dad looks to me shocked. He doesn't know about them using her body.

I nod to him.

"Can I just come and see you?"

"Peeta, I could go nuts at any point now because of this stupid medication! I could kill you! I nearly killed Prim for god sake! I can't let anyone in my room except Haymitch and Cinna cause their the only ones that can pin me down and stop me" she snaps.

"Kat, calm down" I say soothingly.

"I can't Peeta! Can't you see?! This is my life now! I have to live like this, I could kill anyone at any point, innocent or not! All because they hijacked me and now it's a freaking demon that's basically half of my body!"

My dad looks shocked at what she's saying, he never knew any of this.

"Katniss please! It's killing my not being able to see you! Let alone hearing you like this!"

"Peeta, I can't. You'll just get hurt"

"I want to see you though"

"Peeta. You. Can't. Come. And. See. Me." She says pausing after every word.

"Can we skype then?"

"No, I look a complete mess"

"Please Katniss?"

"No. Peeta. I. Look. A. Mess. Anyway. I. Have. To. Go. Just. Remember. I. Still. Love. You." She says taking deep breaths after each word.

She hangs up.

"What the hell Peeta! What's happened to her? When did this happen?!" My father exclaims.

"The hijacking has happened since she was thirteen, but has gradually gotten worse as she's gotten older. The using her body thing has happened since she was fourteen, that's why she goes to the Capitol so much" I explain.
