*Chapter Forty Three*

Being in the hospital sucks. I hate it. I have been here for a whole three days and I swear I really miss my life out of here.

I am not a criminal just in case you are wondering.

My life would have been better if my crazy dead mother didn’t insist that I should marry Lynn. I don’t know what her mum and mine hold over each other but maybe that’s not my thing to know.

I would have heard mum say why she insisted that I marry that girl, but I didn’t and I guess it is too late now.

She is dead and I mean dead! Never to be seen again. All because of me! I killed my mum.

I don’t usually mewl or snivel but I feel the pain of loosing my mum is just too much.

She was a woman full of secrets but that was her life, she was so loving and caring and she was my support.

Now that I just lost her, who is going to be there for me? Lynn? With a fake marriage? Never! Not happening.

She is beautiful and all that but right now, I need to give my mum a send-off. A beautiful and memorable send-off.

Whatever she was holding over Lynn’s mum I hope she can forgive her and go in peace. I wish I could just go and finish Lynn’s mum and be equal.

I mean she will have lost her mum and I will have lost mine. Then they will taken their stupid secrets to the grave but no! I want her alive because I am also interested in hearing what the secrets are.

I am not a murderer either so killing her to add to my misfortune isn’t in my list of thoughts. Not anywhere closer the list.

Are we going to be equal really? I don’t think so because I am officially left alone with no one, all my friends were killed in that forbidden and forced wedding.

I can’t get back up even if I needed but as they say;

The strongest man is he who stands alone right? I ask myself and smile at it.

I will make it out of here alive. I will do whatever I need to do.

The police have cordoned this place and I am sure they are going to arrest me soon if I am not careful.

I need an escape route.

I need to get away from here. I am going to make one of these nurses to aid my escape.

I see a nurse passing by and I make a mental note, I lie nicely on my bed then give a hot and sexy smile.

‘’Hello nurse.’’ I greet in the sexiest way I can master at the moment and when I see a smile, I know my deal is ripe.

‘’Hi how can I help you?’’ she is cute,

‘’Thank you for coming to my
rescue. I really do need help.’’

‘’I’m all ears.’’

‘’You are so beautiful, sorry for getting personal but hey, I just needed to mention that.’’ She blushes and flushes and I know I will make it and if she doesn’t agree to help I will strangle her and leave her dead. I don’t care.

‘’Thank you.’’

‘’What do they call you here? I mean what is your good name?’’

‘’My name is Alice.’’

‘’Wow, I knew you had a beautiful name. So I want you to help me out of here.’’ She gasps and opens her eyes wide. I feel her tense but I maintain a very smiley and friendly face.

‘’How can I do that with all the police here.’’

‘’Give me your dress and I will pay you handsomely for that.’’

‘’I don’t need money, I need this career. Besides we don’t operate in dishonesty and just so you know, I hate such mon……’’

‘’Stop being creepy nurse Alice or whatever you call yourself.’’ She freaks out and panic is written all over her face but trust me I don’t care at the moment.

‘’I will not do what you want.’’ She says and makes to walk out but I move swiftly and block her way.
She is the one helping me whether she likes it or not.

She makes to shout but I use my free arm that doesn’t have a plaster to gag her mouth.

I struggle a lot but she seems very strong, bearing in mind that I am a patient and still weak.

We are on the floor and I warn her that if she makes any stupid mistake, I am killing her. She doesn’t seem to want to surrender so I seem to be left with the last option.

I look at the table and notice a bottle of water that dad brought to me. He is the only one who doesn’t blame me for mum’s death but all other people including my siblings are blaming me.

I take the bottle and give her one swift and hard smashing on the head and that sends her to sleep.

I remove her nurse dress quickly and puts it on. I take a scarf that she was hanging around her neck and I cover my head so that no one would be able to recognise me.

I take her unconscious body and pull it to the bed then cover her sweetly like she is sleeping. I smile to myself just thinking she just became me. The patient.

I take a bottle and break it so that has rough edges that can harm someone or even send them to the grave.

I walk out of the room so fast and when I get to the reception, the guard makes to stop me but I try to make a voice like the one for the nurse.

When he realizes that’s a fraud of a voice, he tries to hit me but I am too quick and I hit his head with the bottle then run away as he falls down.

I manage to come out with so much struggle but here I am.

I will not be away from mum’s send-off. I got to be there for her sake. I loved her so much, she was my confidant and I am sure my love for her is never dying.

I manage to steal a motorbike from one of the riders waiting at the gate to ride the discharged patients and make my way home.

My dad isn’t so happy to see me because he knows I am not well enough but I don’t let that derail me.

I pull my phone from my pocket and decide to call George.

He is good enough to pick on the first ring and I wonder if he was playing games with the phone.

‘’Hello George,’’

‘’Toney how are you?’’

‘’Not so good yourself?’’

‘’Doing fine just strategizing how I can finish Lynn. What’s up?’’

‘’Wow! My point exactly. I want to finish the team too. They made the police shoot my mum dead and I must avenge her.’’

‘’So sorry about your mum.’’

‘’Thanks bro. we got to have to team up to bring this whole team down.’’

‘’Who exactly is in the team?’’

‘’Bob, Steve and Job ‘’

‘’What do you mean Steve is in the group?’’

‘’He is, they never leave part from one another and they were all here and I am not sure if one of them shot mum dead.’’

‘’That’s a first.’’

‘’Why would you say so?’’

‘’Because Steve used to work for me. He was my detective. How he ended up being with those unworthy boys I really don’t know. If I ever find out that he double crossed me, I will kill him myself.’’

‘’Now we are talking. We need to bring this whole group down’’

‘’What is your interest in the whole thing?’’

‘’Mum had forced me to marry that cursed girl so for now I just want to avenge mum’s death.’’

‘’Did she kill her?’’

‘’No but she caused the death by calling those fucking idiots to come for her.’’

‘’Okay then. I will be attending the burial, see you then.

Meanwhile, in the hospital, the police and the doctors realize that the patient is missing. They place a man hunt for him

The nurse that he had hit has gained consciousness and narrated how everything happened.

She and the other few people that he had hurt are treated. They are just lucky that the injuries weren’t so bad.

It is Thursday, on a normal day I would be meeting my friend at the centre to talk about business. Here I am ready to lay my mother to rest.

Everyone looks at me with disgust and I have to disguise myself just in case there are CIDs around.

George is here and my foolish brother had to bring the girl here too.  who do they think they are? We walk towards them and I can see how tensed she is.

George gives her a malicious grin and she closes her eyes absently.

‘’What do you want George?’’ Steve asks.

‘’I wanted to confirm that you joined this team and that you are against me.’’

‘’Now that you have confirmed?’’

‘’I am also to tell you that I will be your worst nightmare!’’

‘’We are waiting George.’’

Lynn is quite tensed but Bob is holding her securely. I must admit they look good together but I am not about to let them be.

‘’I will make all of you pay for my mom’s death.’’

‘’Good boy.’’ Bob says sarcastically and I feel the urge to strangle him but I know better not to bring chaos here.  Not at my own mother’s send- off.

We walk back to our tent with a furious George as the group walks out of our compound.
