"Auntie," I turned my head towards the small cry.
"Yes sweetheart." I bent down to pull his open arms into mine.
"My neck hurts."
Oh, well that's unusual, I pulled away and looked into his eyes which were starting to well up with tears.
"Where does it hurt?"
"My-my," he let out a sob as he hovered over his scent gland, "please auntie it hurts."
I turned his head to the side slightly as his tears started to fall, I could tell he was trying to stifle his sobs. It really shouldn't be like this, bite mark removal is generally painless and especially in someone with as undeveloped scent glands as a 5 year old.
I tried to touch it but he flinched as soon as I got too close.
I scooped him up in my arms as I stood up, careful not to touch, the very visibly swollen gland.
I patted his back as he whimpered into my shoulder and reassured him by telling him how brave he is for trying to be quiet. I swept past the twins who looked on in worry.
They scurried up to me, "Izu-kun does feel good. He wouldn't play with us so we told him to go to you." I looked down at them as we walked, Well I walked they were stumbling to keep up.
"That was a very smart thing to do but right now I need to take care of Izuku so why don't you go draw."
"Can we make him a card so he feels better?"
I smiled, "Sure I know he'll love that."They nodded and stopped following me to go find what I assume to be pencils and paper.
I kept walking hoping to get to my office and give Izuku some pain killer before his gland worse.
