5. Evangelism (Great Commission pt.1)

In order for us to fulfill the Great Commission, we must understand how it works. It is a two-step process. The first step is EVANGELISM.

Evangelism is preaching the Gospel of Christ which is the good news of salvation. Our aim is to share God's love with the goal of winning a person to Jesus Christ.

And then he told them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere."  -Mark 16:15 NLT

I know it is needed. Pero paano po kapag hindi po ako marunong? Paano po kapag hindi ako magaling magsalita at maghikayat? Paano po kapag--

KASAMA MO SI JESUS!

Huwag natin isipin ang mga paano, what ifs at baka natin. Scheme ito ng kalaban para magkaroon tayo ng excuse not to obey God. Isipin natin na every time we win even just one soul, nagiging vessel tayo ni Lord na bawasan ang population sa hell at dumagdag naman ang population sa langit.

The heartbeat of Jesus is the salvation of the lost souls, what's yours?

And when we preach, hindi tayo pababayaan ni Lord. Hinding hindi Niya tayo ipapahiya. Remember what He said in Matthew 28:20? "I will be with you ALWAYS to the very end of age." Kaya anong dapat ikatakot natin? If God is for us, who can be against us?!

How do we preach?

There are A LOT of ways to do this. I believe, God gave us the wisdom on how to spread the Gospel in any ways that we can. And I'll share how I do mine.

1. WIL (What Is Love)

Ito 'yung strategy ng Church namin to evangelize outside. This only lasts for about five minutes at mag-e-extend lang hanggat pwede. But as much as possible, we try to remain it short and direct to the point dahil busy ang mga tao at kadalasan may lakad pa.

In doing the WIL, first, mag-a-approach kami ng mga strangers. Since youth kami, youth din ang kadalasan na wini-win namin. We ask for their time and tell them na may ise-share lang kaming something. If they agree, we then introduce ourselves and know their names too. After that, we ask them "para sa inyo po, what is love?" If this sounds familiar to you, ito ay dahil nabasa mo na ata 'to sa Eternally Found. HAHAHAH! We will acknowledge their answers at ise-share na kung ano ang meaning ng tunay na pag-ibig. At dahil nahihirapan akong i-narrate ang pangyayari, magbibigay na lang ako ng sample!

Lahat po tayo may kanya-kanyang definition ng love. Right now, we want to share to you the real meaning of love. According to 1 John 4:8, God is love. Si Lord mismo ang kahulugan ng tunay na pag-ibig.

Mahal tayo ni Lord. Hindi na nakapagtataka. Pero diba napapaisip pa rin tayo kung mahal nga tayo ni Lord, bakit naghihirap pa rin tayo? Bakit nasasaktan pa rin tayo? Bakit may mga sakit, heartbreaks, etc? Sa tingin niyo po bakit?

Three letters.

S-I-N. Sin.

Nang dahil sa kasalanan kaya tayo naghihirap. Ang sabi nga sa Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. Lahat naman tayo dito makasalanan, diba? At kamatayan ang kabayaran non.

But the good news is, hindi na natin kailangan pagbayaran ang mga kasalanan natin. Bakit? Si Jesus na mismo ang nagbayad para 'don. Para ma save tayo from the death.

'Pag may nagsabi sa'yo na mahal ka niya, syempre gusto mo patunayan niya through actions din at hindi lang puro salita diba? Gan'un ang pinakita sa atin ni Jesus 2,000 years ago. Ang sabi sa 1 John 3:16, Jesus Christ laid down His life for you and for me. His ultimate sacrifice in the cross ay ang kalayaan naman natin in return.

Ang tindi ni Lord diba? Sino lang ba naman tayo para akuin niya lahat ng sakit at paghihirap na dapat tayo ang nakaranas? Punishment natin yun pero sinakripsiyo niya ang sariling buhay kasi gan'un Niya tayo ka mahal. Na instead dapat ikaw, ako ang pinarusahan, Siya na lang.

At hindi lang po tayo sinave ni Lord sa Cross, buhay na buhay po si Jesus ngayon. At muli niya tayong babalikan dito sa mundo para makasama na tayo forever.

Right at this moment, si Jesus, kumakatok po sa puso niyo. Handa ka bang i-open yung heart mo para tanggapin Siya bilang Lord and savior natin?

WIL is an effective way of evangelism lalo na sa mga kabataan na engage sa concept ng "love". Sa simpleng pagtanong mo lang sa una, maka-catch mo na 'yung interest at attention nila. The main highlights of the WIL should consist about SIN is the cause of death and suffering, Jesus' demonstration of love in the Cross (that He died but is now alive) at babalikan Niya tayo. Importante ang decision part. Dapat convincing ang approach natin na may hope sa buhay at iyon ang pagtanggap kay Jesus. Then salvation prayer comes next. Kailangan din na i-speak out nila ang prayer kaya tell them beforehand "repeat after me". Tapos, invite niyo na sila sa Church and never fail to follow up.

2. Personal Testimony

I've done this in our Church at kahit Kristyano na ang mga tao, mai-inspire sila sa kwento ng buhay mo. But we can also use this in evangelizing lost souls. Sa mga classmates mo or workmates mo, anyone. I recommend this sa mga taong kakilala mo na or ka-close mo na. Kasi ang weird naman kapag biglang may stranger na susulpot sa'yo tapos ike-kwento niya ang MMK na buhay niya. Still, depende sa leading sa'yo ni Holy Spirit. Actually, nag-share ako ng personal testimony ko sa Christian Millennial. At kahit stranger ako sa mga tao, it was still effective. Ang main content ng personal testimony is your life before Christ, how you met Christ and your new life now with Christ. Keep it as short as possible yet impactful.

3. Online/Media

Use the benefit of technology to spread the Gospel! Sa Facebook man 'yan, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, blog sites, newspaper, magazines, TV, PBB. 😅 You can share Bible verses in creative ways that you can. Kung may talent ka sa pag-drawing or calligraphy, you can be artistic. Kung hobby mong mag-scroll sa newsfeed mo for 24 hours, why not make a page about God. Kung hobby mong mag-rant dati sa Twitter, why not use it to make threads and announce about God's goodness? Maraming paraan.

4. Stories/Books

I believe God gave us specific gifts and talents. And mine is writing. Sobrang passion ko ang pagsusulat. Prose and poetry. Fiction, non-fiction, flash fiction. Kaya kung mapapansin niyo, halos lahat ng works ko rito sa Wattpad ay Spiritual genre. Because I use this platform to evangelize and make Jesus known to the people. Kung magsusulat lang din naman ako ng mga novels, why not make it about God? Nakaka-enjoy gawin 'to. Hindi lang ang mga novels at one shots ko kundi ang Christian Millennial at itong Disciple Na Ako! I love preaching through writing.

5. Living a Righteous Life

Minsan, hindi mo man napapansin pero may nakakakita sa'yo. Your lifestyle itself is a preaching. Sobrang challenge ito sa ating mga Kristyano. Kaya ang sarap lang sa feeling na biglang may lalapit sa'yo tapos sabihin nilang nabe-bless sila. What's more? Hindi naman sila Kristyano pero dahil nakita nila si Jesus sa'yo, na-inspire na rin silang maging follower ni Lord. As youths, challenge ito sa school. So always strive for excellence and one day, one lost soul may come to you and ask you "what's your secret for success?" and all you can say is "Jesus." Sobrang worth it, bes!

These are just few of the ways we can do to evangel. You can evangelize anyone kahit ano pang religion niya. But we should never force someone to accept Jesus if ayaw talaga nila. Never get yourself in an argument or debates. Wala tayong mapapala kahit ikaw pa ang mananalo sa discussion. Our goal is to win souls, not debates. 'Di bale nang ma-persecute ka o magmukha kang talunan. People thought talunan si Jesus noong pinahirapan Siya sa Cross, but we know the truth. The man who died on the Cross was the real winner, champion and victorious! For He had conquered sin and death in all humility and grace. Don't waste your time on senseless discussions and rants. Use it wisely and make every minute count.

The Gospel is contagious. It has the power to save, heal and deliver. Let it be your DNA.
