"Sweet Dreams" By Marilyn Manson
Fourteen+
An annoying tapping has my mind surfacing from the nice haze of sleep. It sounds a little like high heels on hardwood but there’s no hardwood in Edie’s apartment so that can’t be it. Frowning a bit I crack my eye open a bit but everything is a bit…blurry. Rubbing my eyes with my hand I sit up and squint only to have horror immediately rock every fiber of my body.
I’m back in Hazelwood. I’m in the living area lying on the couch dressed in my dirty and pissed on hospital gown. My arms are riddled in bruises from the vise grips of the orderlies while my ankles and wrists are bandaged. Tears rise to my eyes as I sit up looking around at the painfully familiar surroundings.
My hand shoots up to my mouth as a strangled sob escapes my mouth before the tears begin falling of their own accord. Shaking my head I refuse to believe it was a dream. Gideon really did come, he really did save me, and I’m not really here. He loves me; he said it out of his own mouth. He wouldn’t leave me here or bring me back here. He wouldn’t.
“There you are Lulu!”
I turn my head to see Johnny sauntering towards me dressed in his usual silk pajamas and his blonde hair perfectly disheveled on the top of his head. He slows down a bit when he sees how upset I am and a concerned look comes into his baby blue eyes. Slowly walking around the couch he comes to sit beside me and mutely opens his arms to me.
Wordlessly but full of sobs I curl into his chest. His one hand begins petting my greasy hair as his other hand begins rubbing my back while he shushes my sobs patiently. I cling to his shirt as I cry feeling like my heart is breaking in my chest. I never knew it could hurt this bad before.
“Hey, hey, Lulu?” Johnny asks softly, “What’s wrong?”
“I t-thought he loved me. I thought h-he came for me.” I say before sobbing harder into his chest.
He groans and holds me tighter, “Who? That guy you broke up with?”
I nod as I left my head before wiping my eyes on the backs of my hands. When I look into Johnny’s eyes though I notice something is off. His usually blue eyes are now…green. Frowning a bit I scoot closer making him flinch back.
“What are you doing?” He chuckles nervously.
I peer into his eyes completely confused, “Did you get contacts?”
He quirks an eyebrow, “Ah no. I have perfect eyesight thank you very much.”
“Then why are your eyes green?”
“What?” He asks giving me a crazy look.
“Your eyes are usually blue, Jonathan. Why are they green now?”
He rolls said offending eyes and throws his hands up in surrender, “Jeeze, no need to full name me, brat. I was just testing them out, I thought they’d match my complexion better.”
“Really?” I ask squinting at him doubtfully.
Drawing an ‘X’ over his chest he vows, “Cross my heart and hope to die.”
“Your so fucking weird, John.” I sigh sitting back on the couch.
He chuckles and does the same, “Like your one to talk. You’re the one who smells like they’ve been used as a port-a-potty.”
