Twenty Eight

Jimin sighed and looked up at the ceiling for a minute.

"There was a lot that happened. I was aware...of Taehyung's change in behavior during school. He began to grow colder, more aloof. Taemin had changed him into the troubled kid everybody believed he was. They never believed he was a good kid, despite what all of the evidence pointed to. So he finally just...gave up, I guess. It was easy to push him over the edge and he developed...a shell I guess."

"A shell?"

"He turned into 'V' as we called him. That's what his birth name was, but he hadn't gone by it for a long time, until he embraced it wholeheartedly. Taemin got V into the business of being a hitman, hoping he'd either get killed or arrested while on a job. Taemin himself got involved, and they started to work under Pops. Even then, Taemin managed to keep Taehyung in the shadows, behind him.

"Taehyung wasn't himself anymore, he didn't smile, and he wasn't kind anymore. He was just cruel and malicious. I found out what he was doing, and by then I was already involved with you, Jeon. I tried to help him, but I found out that Taehyung had gotten a new partner."

"Hobi." Jungkook said lowly, his fists clenching at merely saying the name.

"Hoseok. Jung Hoseok is his real name. He isn't a bad man, he does love Taehyung in his own way, he just grew up in this kind of world, and he's never experienced anything but a sick and twisted form of what he has believed to be love. He was always with Taehyung, and when I finally got Taehyung to snap out of it and make him realize what he was doing was wrong, he told Hoseok to fuck off and went with me. And then the rest you already know."

"I'm surprised Hoseok hasn't popped up sooner."

"He tried a couple of times, but Taehyung resisted. And then he was sent overseas on a mission, and he didn't bother Taehyung for years. Until now. Taehyung reverted back, he was angry and had a weak point, and Hoseok will try his very best to keep him in that state of mind, he may even have V do something to either one of you to try and keep him by his side. He's obsessed with Taehyung."

"Is there anything we can do to get Taehyung back right now?"

"You have to separate him from Hoseok first. As long as they're together, you'll have zero chance of getting Taehyung back. The longer Hoseok stays with him, the harder it will be."

"I'll kill him."

"No, you won't." Jimin said flatly.

"Why the hell not?"

"Hoseok isn't a bad person! He just...he needs help. That's all." Jungkook scoffed, but Jin rested a hand on his shoulder.

"Calm down, Jeon. Your man is right, you know what it's like to be raised into this life. Hoseok simply happened to use the same person you used to help you know what love is. And you can't forget that Hoseok had him first, how would you feel if you found out someone had stolen the man you love when you had them first? You may think Taehyung is yours, but he really isn't."

"I know, but he isn't with Hoseok anymore, Jimin just explained that they broke off, so why does that bastard still lay claim?"

"Would you let Taehyung go if he told you to fuck off?" Jungkook stayed silent. "Exactly. In this kind of lifestyle, there's no such thing as no. The weaker are claimed and no matter how hard they try to break away, they can't. Taehyung is no exception. You know that, Jungkook, you are a king of this world."

Jungkook remained silent, but nodded, knowing that Jin was right. Jin smiled when he saw him relax a little.

"Alright, then what do we do, heading forward then, mister genius?" Jungkook finally bit out, his tone sarcastic and dry towards Jin. The man simply smiled in return.

"We go out and search for this V. If he was an ex hitman, and he received a new job only recently, he'll start to receive more. You have connections, I have connections, we aren't just anybody Jeon. Plus, you're a target now. We lure him in at least long enough to know what his character is and how his mind works."

I feel like some of you will still be confused.

So basically Taehyung does NOT have DID, but he has a mindset that he has which is 'V'. Like a headspace, such as little space or pet space, etc, Taehyung has what I would call 'V space' in which he "regresses".
