but i'm gonna make it a little different
"jack, you gotta fly home. this baby is coming tonight, i can't do it alone," you said into the phone. your boyfriend, jack, was on tour while you were pregnant. your water had just broken and your mom was taking you to the hospital.
"baby, we're about to go to meet and greet."
"i know- shit." you winced from the pain. "i know. i'm sorry. just finish your show and get on the first flight here, please."
"i know. i'm so sorry baby."
"i-it's fine."
"i'm gonna do the best i can to get there. but if not-"
"no, you have to get here. oh my god." you closed your eyes and gasped at the pain.
"is that a contraction?"
"mhm." you groaned.
"just take deep breathes baby." you breathed in deeply for a few seconds until the pain faded some.
"i have to go. but i love you and i love our little baby lavender. i'll be there."
"i love you too."
"i'll call you or your mom as soon as i can."
"okay."
"i love you so much. you're gonna be fine."
"i love you too."
"bye love."
"bye." you dropped your phone and screamed out, putting your hand on your stomach.
"i'm sorry honey," your mom said.
"what are you sorry for? it's not your fault jack isn't gonna be here to see his own child being born." you took deep breathes.
"it's not his fault either sweetie."
"no i know."
"how are your contractions?"
"they're still about thirty minutes apart."
"okay good."
"god why is this hurting so much?"
"you have a baby in your uterus trying to come out."
"yes i know mom." she laughed as she pulled into the parking lot. she helped you waddle inside and a nurse took you to a room. you changed into a hospital gown and got hooked up to all the machines.
"listen, i know that you're ready to come out," you said to your stomach. "i want you to come out, too. but you gotta wait. you gotta wait until your dad gets here. he cannot miss this, he would never forgive himself."
after about three hours of just relaxing in your hospital bed, getting your epidural shot, and going through about five contractions, a nurse came in and checked everything out.
