"babe, make sure you grab the bug spray," you said to your boyfriend jonah as you zipped your duffel bag.
"it's already in the car with the other stuff. just waiting on you love," he said, putting his hand on your waist.
"oh." you chuckled.
"you ready?" he asked. he nodded and grabbed your bag. you thanked him and reached for your sunglasses on your vanity before following him out to the car.
"you know how to put a tent up right? because i kinda forgot," you said.
"yeah i remember." he laughed. you both got into your car and jonah stared driving.
it was the beginning of october and you and jonah were going camping. you liked to go at least once a year, stay in the woods for a weekend and completely disconnect from the world.
you and jonah listened to music with the windows rolled down as he drove to the camp site in a forest.
as you got closer you ran to a gas station and got ice for your ice chest and a few extra things that you had forgotten to pack. soon you were back in the car and driving into the forest.
you can upon a clearing and jonah parked. you both got out and went to the trunk, pulling out the tent. you helped jonah set up the tent and the fold out table and chairs. next you started building your fire pit.
"looks good," you said, standing back and looking over your campsite. jonah came over and out his arm around your shoulders.
"good work." you chuckled and went back to the car to get the sleeping bags and your duffel bags. you set up the inside of the tent then came back out and sat at the fire pit.
"wanna go explore?" jonah asked. you smiled and nodded. you stood up and took jonah's hand.
there were paths all over the forest that would lead you to cool things. your favorite was the path that led to the waterfall. you and jonah took the path.
you hopped on jonah's back and he carried you down the path. you got excited when you heard the water and knew you were getting close.
you walked up to the end of the river and saw it drop to the bottom.
"let's go to the bottom, i wanna swim," you told jonah.
"okay, let me go first." he stared climbing down the rocks and he helped you down. it wasn't a huge waterfall, but it was still big.
you and jonah stripped down to your underwear and jumped into the river.
you swam over to jonah and wrapped your legs around his waist, putting your hands on his shoulders.
"you're so beautiful," he said. you smiled and leaned in. you kissed him, running your hands through his wet hair.
you swam in the river for a while, but the sun started to set so you both got out. you hadn't brought towels, so you had to put your dry clothes back on until you got to your tent.
you both dried off and changed before starting dinner. jonah built a fire while you put hot dogs in the grill. you both made plates and started eating.
"it's colder than i expected, you said, bringing your legs up to your chest.
"i know. here." jonah handed you a blanket and you put it over your legs.
"you feeling s'mores tonight or wanna save them for tomorrow night?" you asked.
"we brought enough for both nights," he said. you laughed and went to grab the stuff for s'mores. you roasted your marshmallows then put them onto graham crackers with chocolate.
"mm so good," you said.
"mhm."
after you finished eating you cleaned everything up and tied up your trash so animals couldn't get it.
you and jonah sat around the fire, talking about random things. you liked to talk about how you had been feeling the past few weeks and just take all the extra weight off your shoulders.
jonah usually talked about his music and how the most recent tour had affected him, positively or negatively. you talked about your workload at school or your actual job.
after a few hours of talking about everything, you decided to put out the fire and go into the tent.
"you showering?" jonah asked. there was a bathroom with showers a little ways away that you used while you were here.
"definitely. especially after that river water."
you both grabbed the shower stuff you needed and flashlights, getting out of the tent and walking hand in hand to the bathroom.
after you both showered and brushed your teeth and everything you walked back to the tent.
"i think that we should just open up the sleeping bags and have one on bottom and one on top so we can cuddle," you said.
"i like that idea," jonah said. you lay out the sleeping bags and pillows, then lay down. jonah put his arm out for you to lay on, but you had other plans than going to sleep right away.
you moved on top of jonah, straddling his waist. he smirked and moved his hands to your thighs. you moved your hair behind your shoulders and leaned down, kissing jonah's neck. he moved his head to the side, softly moaning as you left a hickey on his neck.
you pulled back then moved to kiss his lips. he rolled you onto your side then hovered over you. between your legs. he kissed your cheeks and your neck, making you moan.
"y/n," he whispered.
"hm?"
"i love you," he said. you smiled, feeling your heart flutter.
"i love you too jonah," you whispered.
