Chapter Six

Stefan's P.O.V.

I walked the hallways, feeling on top of the world after yesterday. I know we agreed to stay friends, but it was a step in the right direction. I didn't even realize where I was going until I bumped into Scott.
"Hey man. It's been a while."
"What do you mean? I saw you yesterday at lunch."
"Yeah, but you were taking to Elena the whole time." When Scott says this, I realize he's right. I haven't talked to him in a while.
"Sorry. I didn't even realize I was doing it."
"It's fine. You like her. I was the same way with Allison when she first came to school."
"Oh yeah. I remember that. You were so annoying."
"How about we go see that new horror movie that's out? It's supposed to be really good. Does Friday sound good?"
"That's sounds awesome. I'm in."
"Cool."

The rest of the week was pretty boring. I talked with Elena all the time. We agreed we would stay friends and it was true. Nothing was awkward. I still really liked her of course, but I know that we'll be together eventually. Even if it takes some time. It was Friday and I was ready to see this movie. I walk in the theater and see Scott. But I soon realize he's not alone. Standing right next to him, holding his hand while getting popcorn is the tall, dark haired beauty that is Allison Argent. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that he brought her, they are inseparable. Now I'm just going to be the awkward third wheel. I begin to turn around when I hear Scott yell.
"Stefan! Where are you going? The movie's going to start soon!"
Scott and Allison walk up to me, hand in hand, and I'm already beginning to feel like the third wheel.
"I though we were going to hang out. I don't want to ruin your date. I can leave."
"No. I invited you here because I thought it would be good to hang out."
"I know. But your girlfriend is here. I don't want to be the third wheel."
"You won't be." Scott says, he's about to say something else but he's interrupted by Allison.
"Someone else is coming too!" She says.
"Who?" I say, afraid to know the answer. But I already know the answer.
I hear the high ringing of a bell as the door opens. I begin saying over and over again in my head "please don't let it be her, please don't let it be her". But all of that I ruined when I hear Allison yell,
"Elena! Over here!"
You've got to be kidding me. Of all the people it could be, it has to be her. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing Elena and being around her, but we haven't seen each other outside of school since the other night. We thought it might be a little too awkward.
As if he's reading my mind, Scott whispers to me,
"Lighten up. Now you can spend some quality time with her." I know he's right, but that's what I'm worried about. We agreed not to tell our friends about the kiss, so he has no idea why I'm so nervous.
She walks over and stands next to me. I look over at her and give her a smile. She smiles back then looks away at Allison. Scott looks at me questioning, but I just slightly shake me head. He drops the look and let's it go.
"Should we go?" Scott says.
"Yeah." I say.
I out my hands in my pockets and walk, Elena remaining by my side. Partway into the movie, I see Elena jump and hide her face. Before even thinking, I grab her hand, intertwining my fingers with hers and give her hand a slight squeeze. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see her look down at our hands and smile. I continue looking forward, wanting to play it cool. I'm happy when she looks away and doesn't pull her hand away. Each time she gets scared, she squeezes my hand and I give her a slight squeeze in response trying to say "don't be scared, I'm right here." I think by holding her hand I might've calmed her down, which made me really happy. I'm glad I was there for her.
When the movie ends, we all go into the main area and face each other. Elena and I are no longer holding hands, but she is standing very close to me, our shoulders pressed against one another.
"Elena, do you want us to drive you home?"
Elena looks up at me. "No, that's ok. Stefan will drive me. Right?"
"Yeah, of course."
"Ok. See you two later."
I am surprised she wants me to drive her home. After last week, I thought it would be awhile before she would want to be in a car with me again. We walk into the parking lot and she walks right to my car, opening the passenger side door.
"Were you scared?"
"A little. I thought that was pretty obvious."
"Kinda." We both chuckle.
"I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to scary movies. Honestly, that Disney movie Good Dinosaur kind of scared me."
"Really? But it's a Disney movie. How can that be scary?!" We both start laughing.
"Hey! Don't make fun of me! There were some scary dinosaurs and a really scary storm! It was a scary movie!"
"Ok. Whatever you say." We both start laughing as we start driving.
The theater is far away from her house, so I turn on the radio and she begins singing along to some Bruno Mars song. She has a beautiful singing voice. I glance over at her, my window is open and her hair is closing in the wind and she's singing into an invisible microphone in her hand. I can't help but smile at her. She is so beautiful. Then she looks over at me and stops singing. She smiles at me then holds her hand up to my mouth and tells me to sing.
"I don't sing."
"Oh, come on! Sing! Please!" She begs me.
I begin singing along to the song which I realize is "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars.
"What do you mean you can't sing? You're an amazing singer!"
"Sure. You're better. I'm done singing now."
"Ugh. You're no fun." We both being laughing again and she goes back to singing.
I pull up in front of her house and before she gets out she stops.
"It's Friday."
"Yeah." I say, mocking her.
"I don't have to be home."
"Ok. So, where do you want to go?"
"Your house!"
"What?" I'm surprised by her saying this.
"Yeah! You've seen my house, I want to see yours!"
"Ok."
"Really?!"
"Yeah. Sure. Why not." She buckles her seatbelt back up and I start driving towards my house. I'm only about three blocks away, so we get there within two minutes.

Sorry this chapter was shorter, I just wanted to focus on this part of the story. Also, it's been a while since we've have it told from Stefan's point of view, so I enjoyed that!
