Chapter Eleven

Elena's P.O.V.

I walk into the ballroom of the hotel the school has rented for the dance. I look around for him. He said he would be dressed as Prince Charming, which, could be anyone here. As I look around, I can feel someone staring at me. I turn around, almost hoping it's Damon, but knowing it's not. I turn to see a tall man standing at the top of the staircase staring at me. He is definitely dressed like Prince Charming. He's wearing a navy blue jacket with slightly darker designs on the collar and lapels of the jacket. Under it is a matching shirt in silver with the same designs covering it in a darker silver, making it slightly understated and not very noticeable. There's a dark silver tie to accompany that, and long navy blue pants to go with the jacket. He is wearing black dress shoes. His mask is a plain navy blue. It covers the top portion of his face like mine, no strap keeping it up. From afar his suit almost looks like a dark blue navy suit. He doesn't stand out to someone who isn't looking for him. But I am. He continued to look at me, not moving, but we've made eye contact. His stare is captivating from afar. I am now walking towards him and I'm at the bottom of the stairs. He still looks at me, but he stepped one foot out and reached a hand out towards me as I climb the stairs. In order not to trip, I hold my dress up as I walk. When I get to him, I take his hand and he slowly starts pulling me towards him. I look at him closer now. Due to the lighting of where we are, I cannot see his eyes. He has light brown hair that is sticking up. From what I can tell, he has a very defined jawline and he's very skinny. He is very handsome.
"You look lovely." He says in a low, raspy voice that I cannot recognize. In a way, it does sound familiar though. I just cannot seem to place it.
"Thank you." I say.
"Cinderella, I'm guessing?"
"Well, I thought if we were going together, we might as well match."
"How'd you know what I'd be wearing?" He smirks.
"Well, you are Prince Charming." I say.
"Your Prince Charming." At that I smile and blush. It feels nice to be special to someone, even if I don't know who that someone is.
He is right though. I picked out a dress that I thought resembled Cinderella's so that we could match. It's a it is a long, strapless blue dress that's not too poofy with silver designs all over to top and around the bottom. My mask is a matching light blue strapless with silvery designs around it. It covers only the top part of my face, my eyes showing. It's a very pretty dress, and if I'm being honest, I bought it to impress him. By the way he is looking me up and down now, I can tell that I have. I hear music start to play in the ballroom, it's a slow song. His eyes return back to me.
"Would you like to dance?"
"I would love to."
He releases my hand and turns to the side, holding out his elbow. My hand fits perfectly into the crook of his arms. With my other arm, I grab his arm, using it for stability as we walk. He looks at me and smiles. I smile back at him. He has very perfect white teeth. We walk into the ballroom, me slightly trailing behind him. At the top of the staircase, we begin to descend. My one hand still in the crook of his elbow, the other holding up one side of my dress. Suddenly, I can feel a lot of eyes staring at us. I know it's not me that they stare at. I'm pretty much invisible. They must be staring at him, trying to figure out who he is like I am. From afar he still looks handsome, so why would they not stare? I begin to feel uncomfortable.
"They're all staring at you." I say, leaning towards him to whisper into his ear over the music.
"Believe me, they're all staring at you." Me? Why me?
"No they're not. Why would they stare at me?"
"Because, you look stunning." He says, turning towards me. We stop at the bottom of the stairs now.
He pulls his elbow out from under my arm and walks in front of me, holding both his hands out.
"I believe you owe me a dance."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah." He says, giving me a crooked smile.
I place my hands in his. He starts pulling me towards the dance floor. When we get to the center where it's clear, under the disco ball and lights, I can see his piercing green eyes. They are beautiful and engraving. Again, they seem familiar, I just don't know from where. I can feel myself getting lost in them already.
He pulls one of my hands up, entertaining our fingers together and lets the other go, putting his hand on my hip. I put mine over his shoulder. We sway back and forth, he spins me a couple of times. I can tell that he is getting bored of this dance.
"You're a very good dancer."
"Thank you. I used to take lessons with my mother. She was a dancer, so I grew up dancing."
"Makes sense." I hear his use of past tense, but I don't ask.
In order to change it up a bit, I release his hand and put both my arms around his neck, pulling myself closer to him so that we are nearly touching. He wraps his hands more around my waist. I can feel his breathing getting heavier. With this closer proximity, I can smell his cologne and the mint of his breath. He smells very good. It's almost intoxicating. We sway back and forth like this, looking into each other's eyes. I blurt out before I can think,
"You have the most beautiful green eyes." Damn it. I'm such an idiot.
"Thank you." He says, expressionless.
"I wish I could know who you are."
"Nope. While I may give you the world, that is then he one thing I won't give." He says, smirking again.
"Speaking of which, thank you for all those gifts."
"As long as they brought a smile to your face."
"They did."
"I'm glad." He smiles.
I pull him closer so we are touching now and lean my head against his shoulder. He leans his head against mine, bending down and burying his head into my neck and hair. We stay like this for a while until he pulls away and I lift my head up to look at him. I can feel the pout on my face.
"What's wrong."
"I was just wondering. Where's your boyfriend?" I was hoping to forget about Damon for tonight. I'm angry at him for not coming through and calling this stupid.
"He bailed on me at the last moment. He said this was stupid."
"Oh. I'm sorry."
"It's ok. It's not your fault. Plus, you stepped in and have made this a really great night."
"I'm glad."
After a few hours of more dancing, some spins and a few other fancier moves that he walked my through, including a simple salsa during a Latin song, the night was coming to an end. Almost everyone had already left, so there were not many people left. We walked to the top of the staircase where we had met. He turned to stand in front of me. Our hands were still joined and he smiled at me.
"What?" I say, smiling.
"Nothing." He says.
"What!" I plead.
"You just... you just look very pretty." I blush.
"Did you have a good night?" He asks.
"Yes."
"I'm glad I could step in and make it good."
"I'm glad too. You made tonight amazing, and you're a very good dancer."
I look down at our hands. He's drawing circles on the back of my hand with his thumb. I look back up at him. The lights are now on, so I can still see his beautiful eyes. He takes a step forwards, leaning his head down. I take a step back. I almost wish I hadn't, but I know it was the right thing to do. He looks disappointed.
"What's wrong? Why'd you back away?"
"Because you were going to kiss me."
"No I wasn't." He says, a crooked smile beginning to form.
"Yes you were! I saw you!" I say. His crooked smile is bigger now, he's no longer holding it back. I can see a mischievous look in his eyes.
"I would never kiss you. And I don't want to anyway."
"Good, because I don't want to kiss you either." I say, my voice firm. I'm trying to sound believable, but I don't believe myself.
"Really?" He says, softly, taking a step forwards. I don't take a step back this time.
I slightly giggle, losing my confidence.
"Really." I say, my voice soft, distant, and unconvincing as I look down at his lips. I quickly catch myself and look back up at him.
"I don't believe you." He says, his eyes slightly narrowing and his smile growing.
"I don't. And anyways, I have a boyfriend." I say, gaining my confidence back. His confidence and smirk would be enraging me if I didn't find it attractive.
His smile fades and he raised an eyebrow.
"Where is he then? He's not here. I am." With this, my smile also fades.
"He's not here. He didn't want to come."
"I'm sorry about that. You don't deserve that. You deserve someone better."
"He's good to me most of the time. And it's ok, it's not your fault. I'm glad he didn't come. Instead, I got to have an amazing night with you."
"You don't deserve most of the time, you deserve all day every day."
His voice is low. He takes another step towards me, closing the distance I out between us until he is very close. I can feel his breath. He looks down at me, into my eyes, almost longingly. I become entranced and incapsulated in his green eyes. He takes off my mask. He already knows who I am, so I don't stop him. It's as if we've known each other for years. When he looks at me, it's like he's looking into my soul.
"Why are you with him?" He asks softly, losing all confidence he once had and looking into my eyes.
I lose my confidence, becoming tempted by him. His head is leaning forward, and I lean mine forward, resting my forehead against his so I can't see his eyes anymore. I get sick of not seeing him. Staying like this, I look up with just my eyes, looking into his eyes from very close.
"I- I um..." I can no longer help myself. I lean in to kiss him, trying to close the gaps between our mouths, but this time he pulls away slightly.
Without even realizing it, I lean forwards longingly. I'm hungry for him. All I want to do now is kiss him. It's no use in holding back, and I'm not sure why he pulled away. He leans away again, taking a step back this time, furthering our distance from each other. It is only then that I realize he has a smile forming on his face and he is laughing. Why is he laughing? Is this some joke to him?
"Why are you laughing?" I ask.
"Because, I knew you wanted to kiss me!" I scoff. Damn it. I tried to resist and play it with confidence, somehow, without even realizing it, he broke through my barriers and broke me.
"No I didn't! You were messing with me! I wouldn't even-"
I'm cut off my him taking a step towards me. He looks at me with the same hunger he did earlier and I probably just did now. He cups my face with both hands, which are soft and gentle on my skin. I close my eyes as he closes the distance completely, crashing his lips to mine. He kissed me feverishly, hungrily. Our lips work together in synchrony, acting as one. It is like fireworks are going on around me. It is passionate yet soft and tender. He moves his hands from my face, down to my waist and around my back, pulling me closer to him. Since he is taller than me, I arch my back backwards, and he leans over me. He's holding me up, supporting me as I melt into him. In this instant, I completely forget about my worries and the fact that I have a boyfriend. I am so completely consumed by him. Until he pulls away. I pout and look into his eyes. Our breaths are heavy and fast as we stare at each other, fighting the urge for one more kiss or to go any farther. I know I shouldn't. I know I'm with Damon, but I cannot help myself. I feel like I've completely lost control with him. He has all the control. I wait for him to lean in again. His hands are still wrapped around my back, holding me up. My hands moved from the back of his neck and are now flat against his chest. Looking into his eyes, I decide that I'm not going to wait. I take control and grab his tie, pulling him towards me. He stops inches from my lips. Looking at me with concern. I know why he's concerned, it's Damon. My expression is full of longing. All I want is for him to stop holding back. Reading my facial expression, he stops holding back and lets me pull him towards me. We kiss again, but not as hungry as the last. This one is soft and sweet. We pull away from each other, smiling. I can feel myself blushing, but I'm not embarrassed. He backs away from me, still holding my hands until he is too far for us both. Our arms are as extended as they can be. I begin to take a step forwards, but he releases my hands and turns around to walk down the steps.
"Wait!" I yell. He turns and raises his eyebrows.
"What is your name?" I ask.
He doesn't respond, instead, he smiles, turns, and walks away. As he walks away, I can see the happiness coming off of him as he walks. He has a bounce in his step, leaving the cool and mysterious vibe he had all night. I stare at him as he walks away. I try to figure out who he is using all of our tile form tonight. He made me so happy and made me feel so special in such a little amount of time. I can't help but feel that there is something almost familiar about him and the way he kissed me and teased me. I just can't place what it is, but I will figure it out eventually.

Thank you guys so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I had a lot of fun writing it! It is a completely Stelena chapter and I used sole inspiration from various tv and movie couples here and there. Please comment, tell me what you thought and what you want to happen next or think is going to happen! It would mean a lot if you would follow me on Instagram, my username is stellijah . I'm so sorry it took so long to post this chapter, but if you read the update I posted, I originally wanted to just finish writing this, then post all the chapters at once. Then I realized, it was taking me too long since I don't have much time with school, so I'm just going to post the chapters that I have now, and I'll post the rest of them once I have them written! So enjoy the next couple chapters! On my story I will post updates on when the next chapter is posted, and I'm also posting another AU there too with screencaps!
