Chapter Eighteen

Elena's P.O.V.

I wake up and I forget where I am. I start to look around before recognizing I'm in my room. I notice that there is something different about my room. That's when I feel the weight of Stefan's arm around me. His arm is wrapped right around me and our fighters are intertwined. I can feel his body heat on my back and I am so comfortable. This just feels so right. I feel him start to move. I start to turn towards him, but his grip around me tightens so I can't move. He kissed me neck and gives me another squeeze before letting me turn around. I turn to see his smiling face. The sun light from my window is hitting him perfectly so his green eyes are sparkling. He looks flawless.
"Good morning." I say.
"Good morning." He says in a raspy, morning voice.
"I can get used to this." I say as he kisses my forehead.
"Good. Because not that I know what it's like to wake up next to you, I am never leaving you alone again. So you better get used to it." He says, stroking my hair and giving me a peck on the lips before getting out of bed and putting a shirt and pants on.
I start to pout and he comes over, leans over me, and gives me another kiss.
"Where are you going? Get back here. I'm not done with you yet." I say, continuing to pout.
"Come on. It's time to eat breakfast. I'm cooking."
That's enough to get me out of bed and once breakfast is ready, we sit down at my dining table across from each other. The pancakes and eggs that Stefan made smell and look delicious, and combined with the coffee I brewed, this breakfast is one of the best I've had in a while.
"How'd you sleep?" I ask.
"I slept great. I was tired afterwards." When he says that, I can't help but blush, but I'm no longer embarrassed by it. I notice that when I blush, it makes him smile more, and I love looking at his smile, so if I can put up with embarrassing myself to see that.
"I'm glad. Next time, we can sleep over at your house."
"Are you sure?" He says.
"Yeah, Damon doesn't bother me anymore. I have you, why should I give him any thought."
This causes him to smile bigger, pick up my hand, and kiss the back of it.
"I'm glad." He says. "I just wanted to say, I'm so sorry about what happened at school yesterday."
"I'm over it." I say.
"That may be true, but it's still not okay."
"No. But I can handle it. Ok?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
"Okay."
The rest of breakfast we just talked and joked around, and our hands never left each other the entire time. After we've eaten, we watch a movie and cuddle. When it's over, Stefan says,
"I think it's time I get going."
"What? Why? It's not that late."
"No, it's not, but I should probably go home and shower."
"You could shower here. With me." That makes him blush, which is still cute.
"I would love nothing more, but I really should go home and check on Damon too. Make sure he's not having an orgy or something."
"Okay." As disappointed as I am, I understand he has to leave. I walk him to the door where just before he turns to walk away, he pulls on the shirt that I'm wearing- which is his- and gives me one last, long kiss. I don't want this to end. I know I'll see him later, but something about this kiss makes me want to hold on to him to he never leaves me. When he pulls away, he goes to turn away from me, but I pull on the shirt he's wearing, turn his head towards me, and give him one last, long kiss. It still sends electricity through my entire body as we kiss. When he pulls away again, he gives my hand a squeeze and I hold onto his for as long as I can, until our hold breaks and he walks away. I'm standing in the doorway, leaning on it, watching as he walks away to his car. I yell,
"Bye!" And wave as he walks away. He turns towards me, and runs back up my walk way. I start running towards him and we collide again, giving each other one last, passionate kiss.
"Bye." He whispers. I can see it in his eyes that he is giving me all the love he has. That I am the only girl in the world.
"I'll call you later?"
"You better." He says, then walks away again, this time getting in his car and driving away.
I go back into my house and sit on the couch, breathing in his scent on his shirt that I'm wearing.

Stefan's P.O.V.

I drive away from Elena's, ecstatic. I near the end of the intersection where there's a stop sign. When I stop, I see another car coming towards me alarmingly fast. It all happens so fast and the last thing I see is the drivers frantic, red eyes as he tries to avoid my car. I know then that he's drunk driving and he's going to hit me and there's nothing I can do to avoid him. It all happens so quickly. I see him coming right at me, he's basically on top of my car. I expect to be hit in the face by my airbag, but nothing happens. I suddenly feel an overwhelming sense of pain all over. I'm not sure exactly where it's coming from. My vision starts to black out. Until I see nothing.
