15-year-old Bella's POV
Laying in my double bed waiting impatiently for the clock to strike 7 had never been so nerve-wracking.
Dad had been preparing for his business trip that would be held in Cali, that would require him to leave two days prior.
I wanted him to stay until my birthday but that couldn't be arranged as he had to secure 'major business clients', as per his boss's strict orders.
So we came up with a plan, my mom and I, we decided to plan a pre-birthday instead, that way Dad could still enjoy the party and leave for business.
The alarmed blared through the room showing that it was finally 7 am.
I kicked off my grey blanket that had once been a shade darker, almost black, from my tiny frame with my feet.
I slowly stretched my body, walked into my bathroom, washed my teeth and finger-combed my hair. My onesie was still attached to my body as I made my way through the hallway, softly padding with my fluffy slippers headed towards my parents' bedroom.
Once I was in front of my parents' bedroom door I heard whispering coming from behind their door, could they had been talking about the gifts they wanted to give me?
I gently placed my right ear to listen in on their conversation, their tone seemed off and worried.
"Do you think we should tell her?", urged my father.
"I think we should tell her when you're back from your business trip, it would be better that way, I just don't want to ruin her special day." my mother reassured him in a comforting tone, I could imagine my mother softly grazing my fathers' hair in a soothing manner, she would always do that when he was anxious or worried.
I couldn't wrap my head around the way my dads' voice seemed urgent, and what were they hiding from me that had to wait until he came back?
I rattled my head as if trying to remove the conversation they had from my head.
Once my thoughts were clear, I proceeded by knocking on their door 3 times before entering, this was my indication to them saying 'Get decent because I'm coming in' type of thing.
I remember that one time when I didn't knock on their door, and hell I was scarred for life after that, the images just kept playing, even after I closed their door and ran back to my room, my tiny 5-year old hands still blocking my view.
I learned my lesson after that, that's for sure.
"Come in honey, the coast is clear." My mother called out.
I opened the door with caution just to be on the safe side.
Once I was pleased with the sight I saw, I quickly paced to their bed, jumped and landed right in between them, face down and legs swaying side to side.
"Good morning, I hope both of you slept well," I said in a cheery voice as my face radiated happiness and joy.
My dad chuckled and moved his hand to the top of my head before ruffling my finger-combed hair, sitting up and moving closer to place a soft kiss on my temple.
"Morning kiddo, so today is the day huh?"
"Yep, and mommy is helping me make the cake, right mom?" I looked at mom expectantly waiting for her to answer my non-question request.
She was about to decline, but I pulled my awesome all-time favorite trick, no one, not even dad could resist my famous puppy dog eyes.
"Okay missy, we'll make your cake, but don't expect it to be shop worthy." her voice was laced with humor and the glimmer in her eyes magnified the joy that she was wrapped in at that current moment.
"I'll let you two get ready, I'm going to call Anna and ask her to help me shop for something. Will you need anything for the food?" I looked to my moms' direction, slowly sliding out of the comfortable blanket heaven I was wrapped in.
"No, I won't need anything. I have everything in the kitchen if something lacks your father will run down to the store, don't worry about anything sweety."
I rounded the bed and gave my mom one bone-crushing hug earning me a stifled laugh from my dad, little did he know that he would be next later on.
"I'll leave both of you to it then, I love you both." I blew butterfly kisses to both of them and exited their room heading towards my own to call Anna for the shopping date.
I picked up my phone and dialed Anna's digits. Her line rang three times before she finally picked up on the fourth ring.
"Hey girl, Sup. Why are you calling me so early in the morning?" She stated in a sleepy tone and as to prove her state, she yawned a couple of times waiting patiently for my reply.
"Hey, good morning. Get ready, I'll be picking you up in a few hours to go shopping. Is your brother home?"
"Ohh yeah, I almost forgot. Yea he's home, why are you asking?" A hint of mischief was in her voice, she knew that I've had a crush on her older brother since forever, and she always made it a point to 'pair us up' whenever she got the chance.
"Well obviously both of us can't drive dummy! Ask him for this one favor, Pleeease." I squealed through the earpiece until she finally agreed on talking to Sam.
"You're soo gonna owe me, Bella." She exclaimed on the other side.
"Of-course Ann, That's why you're my best friend." I chuckled and continued on to say, "Get ready, I'll be there in an hour. Talk later, mxwaaah." I blew her a kiss and ended the call.
I picked out a change of clothes that consisted of black boyfriend jeans, a long-sleeved white shirt, my black converse, and my all-time favorite black hoodie, mom bought it a year ago in Japan and even though it might have been getting small around the arms as time passed by, I forced myself into it.
I made my way towards my bathroom and proceeded with my daily routine.
Since I was running out of time I decided on using the shower as that was quicker and more efficient.
After I was done, I made my way downstairs and served myself Churros with chocolate dipping sauce. I finished off the Churros with homemade Orange juice and called out to my parents informing them that I was leaving the house.
A text pinged on my phone, I opened the text to find that Anne was done and was giving me 15 minutes to get to her house before Sam changed his mind.
Their house was a block away from our own, so 15 minutes was pretty reasonable.
I replied with 'K' and left the house after taking my house keys, $150 for the possible outfit I'd purchase and my phone, placing all contents in my pockets.
