"I have learned now that while those who speak about one's miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more."

— C. S. Lewis

Bella

A throbbing migraine had found its dwelling place at the back of my head, the pain couldn't be compared to any other.

I peered open both eyes only to close them almost immediately from the harsh bright light in the room, cautiously, I opened both eyes much slower to accommodate the light.

Raising my hands to rub the grogginess from my eyes I noticed IV drips connected to my right hand, I thrashed around the single bed to get the drips off.

Firm hands held me down on both sides.

Liam's face obstructed my view, he was inches away from my face that if I made an effort our lips would brush against each other, just the thought itself set my face ablaze. I looked everywhere except his blue crystal clear eyes.

"Relax, you're okay. We're at my house and mom took care of you so don't worry."

My mind was swirling with different questions, all conclusions made minimal sense.

What happened?

Why do I have drips on my arms?

Why does my head hurt?

And most importantly?

Why didn't he take me to the hospital?

I was trying to piece up the puzzle, but every time I did, the picture became more distorted than it should have.

Liam saw my discomfort as he shoved his hands into his black faded jeans and stood a distance away from me, it slightly hurt to see him put an invisible barrier between us but then again maybe it was good; for both of us, mostly him.

The tension in the room had risen a tenfold, Liam cleared his throat and asked, "Do you remember what happened?"

I tried recalling the events that transpired but my memory was foggy, just like the puzzle I tried to solve but there were missing pieces that played a vital role.

Just as I was about to answer, the door opened revealing a beautiful woman; probably in her late thirties wearing a white blouse tucked into black fitted slacks and black heels, over her attire was a white coat that fitted her small frame. Her hair had been sleeked and tied into a perfect bun, no stray hair to be seen. Her striking blue eyes resembled those of Liam, Liam– this had to be Liam's mother.

"Hello, Darling! I hope my son didn't disturb your slumber, he tends to be...well you know!" She spoke in a soft voice that made me instantly relax.

Her smile was contagious, I found myself smiling, why you ask? I didn't know either, there was just something about her that oozed warmth and confidence.

"No Mrs.Garcia. He found me already awake. I didn't mean to intrude in your house, I–"

"Nonsense, call me Grace. Being called Mrs.Garcia makes me feel old; and my darling, you are not intruding, I'm glad my son brought you home, even though the circumstances weren't that great but still, don't worry about it, you're always welcome here."
